Congratulations to Damiana, Esteban Luis for one of the first Michelin ⭐️’s in Mexico and the Valle de Guadalupe. This is our favorite restaurant in the Valle de Guadalupe nestled under the trees at Vinedos de La Reina. I was so lucky to enjoy this Mother’s Day with them the day before they flew out for the awards 🏆with my mom!

It was also wonderful to see Lauren receive the Somm award for Animalon with a ⭐️, which has recently taken over the house of Laja. A interesting ⭐️ was Conchas Piedras, Drew Deckmans causal champagne and oyster 🦪 restaurant obtaining a star ⭐️. There were several other restaurants that received the Bibb Gourmand as well. For such a small community, we have amazing restaurants! If you are a foodie, you could spend a week at least!

So excited Michelin Guide is rating Mexico and they included Baja, specifically Valle de Guadalupe. Wishing the best of luck 🤞 🍀 to the many great restaurants we have in the Valle - Damiana, Animalon, Villa Torell, Malva, Deckman’s, and Luminaire. Hoping for a couple of ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tuesday night!

The Wine Spectator Grand Tour in New Orleans, LA, was an event we couldn't afford to miss. Aaron thoroughly studied the wines and layout, creating a top #12 list to begin with, followed by his next 75 favorites from over 200+ wines. Of course he was first in line sporting his LSU attire. We enjoyed a great time with friends from the New Orleans Chaine, Comandarie, Krewe of Cork, and neighbors, savoring the wines and enjoying tasty bites from Emeril's, Brennan's, and Commander's. The event was pleasantly uncrowded, making for a memorable experience... We hope they return next year!

Congratulations to all the Valle wineries. This is an amazing showcase is how great the Valle wines are!!!

Cayuse is considered one of the best wine makers of Syrah in the “new world”🌎 in Walla Walla, Washington. Christophe was a great host. It is amazing to see how the vines must toil through those rocks. We were blessed this year at attending their Spring Release. We had their iconic Bionic Frog 🐸, Horsepower, Cayuse Estate plots, and more. A super fun 🤩 non Syrah blend was their 3 vintage Grenache (2013,2014,2015). We were able to come home 🏠 with some new ideas 💡.

This is what happens when you ask wine 🍷 makers to bring a bottle of Northern Rhône to a wine tasting… Too much fun 🤩. Thanks 😝 Sleight of Hand. No, we weren’t able to taste through everyone. We did find Tenacity had similar profiles to many.

The renowned Mexican architect Sergio Abunidz designed our extraordinary home with vineyard and mountain valley views with a courtyard to remind us of New Orleans. Wine 🍷 is to be shared… One of our favorite customers entered Tenacity 2017 in a blind Rhone/CDP with 10-20 years of aging. We feel so blessed 😇 that the group loved 🥰 it! They were amazed with the quality and loved the style. Of course, they were certainly surprised it was from Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California Mexico.

We had a little fun blending 2018 and 2019 Tenacity. Turned out awesome, wonderful nose of dark fruit and anise, whole mouth feel that is dark fruit forward.

🤩We spent time in Bordeaux 🍷with director generals, wine makers, and cellar masters, learning about how they are managing climate change, innovative methods for their region,
and various wine making techniques.

Unlike Mexico 🇲🇽 there are so many rules for terroir. Min and max # of vines per hectare, style of trellising, dry farming only, etc. Many have gone to biodynamic farming even w/o the demeter certificate because they feel it truly makes a difference after the 2022 vintage. This vintage had two frosts, hail storms, rain till June and then a drought. While a low yield, the ripe berries have created an amazing vintage. ❤️ the plow horses 🐴. Met Ted, a robotic electric plow machine. Drones are in vogue for ripeness , disease, and vineyard mgmt. Opt age of the vines are 25-50. Many are getting rid of Merlot and planting Cab Sav.

Harvest… The optical sorter which we we would ❤️to have, not all use and only after hand sorting. Some a completely different direction of a water sugar mixture to sort.

Like Mexico, native yeast really isn’t an option, but many make their own yeast cream because they are big enough and can🧐.

Cement is still used. Wooden vats are common. Stainless more & more w/ the cone shape. Punch downs depend on the wine versus pump overs.

We feel Bordeaux is blessed with all the main cooperages and more, unlike us. It’s common to see them use multiple cooperages or have on-site. We even found some using a tiny bit to of American Oak, something we are going away from
in Mexico. We ❤️the idea of using hot water and nitrogen versus sulfur to sterlize. One winery puts each barrel in an Amphora for 3 weeks during the process to bring out the floral and fruits of the wine. Min aging time is regulated but not max. Most aren’t fining anymore with 🥚 whites rather use a pre-filter process like we do. 😢 Canneles aren’t as prevalent and $$ now.

During our trip we had some wows. Definitely 👀 at 2022. When ratings come out, we think you will be surprised. 2021s are being bottled now and tasting great. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to chat with us.
