Cycles. The Architects Who Never Threw Anything Away.
Trienal de Lisboa | 2022

A century ago, a mine closed down its productive activities leaving behind large slag-heaps from the extractivist processes along with a series of pollution problems.

In this installation, we set forward a critical approach to transforming these structures by bringing together three complementary elements: a cartography, a portrait and a piece made of the tailings earth, all intended to contribute to the generation of an ecological cycle prompted from within architecture, returning the heaps to the city and to the people.

Feria de las Culturas Amigas
Downtown, Mexico City | 2016

One can witness dynamic and symbolic meetings among different cultures and traditions reinforcing the ties of friendship that unite Mexico with other nations.

The proposal invites one to experience the fair within an inclusive and contained space. The symbolism of the circle represents unity and universality within the pavilion's interior and exterior circumferences which are delineated by a composition of repeating modules that contain each culture's stand.

Casa Hortensia
Colonia Florida, Mexico City | 2016

There are several residential neighborhoods in Mexico City that were developed in the 1950s that have left an important legacy of modern architecture in the city.

The remodeling of a house that corresponds to the mid-century period had the challenge to rescue the original values and space conditions of the architecture of that era while bringing together contemporary architectural understandings.

The house's scheme is made up of two patios, these empty spaces were the core of the house. Although the main structure was kept untouched, walls were removed, all finishes changed, and the spatial organization was made evident in the external features of the house.

The final result of the remodeling provided unity in the new space with both the exterior and interior areas as well as to the past in terms of its history.

Guayacán Pavilion
Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico | 2018

In an expression of materiality and space, a nursery is conceived for the endemic and endangered tree, the Guayacán.

With the minimal use of materials, the pavilion benefits from its assimilation into the landscape and invites workers and visitors to descend through the paths to experience a closer interaction with the trees, allowing them to perceive the temperature and the humidity of the environment, the airflow, and the relationship between the species and the groundwater.

Milagrito Mezcal Pavilion
Oaxaca, Mexico | 2015

Before and after of the pavilion located in the village of Matatlan in Oaxaca, where the tradition of mezcal making has been practiced for generations. Local producers are struggling with the disappearance of traditional processes due to newly emerging market demands for mezcal.

The project centered on renovating the production spaces in such a way that the exportation standards could be met while maintaining the traditions place, family and artisanal production.

Casa Volta
Oaxaca, Mexico | 2018

From the recycled bricks of the ovens of Casa Wabi and the concrete that gives the structural solidity, the architectural elements are integrated with the trees and the wild vegetation that surrounds the project.

Both interior and exterior spaces are conceived as open pavilions; open to the landscape, to nature, to observe and be observed in the privacy of an environment with minimal human presence.

Un lugar: murales del territorio
UNAM, Mexico City | 2019

The installation is a serene journey from the individual to the collective; the immersion of a self-conscious subject in the geographic and social collectivity of Mexico's territory.

Laid bare, in one of the elements the territory can be read literally, while the other has suffered the emptying of those areas devastated by natural, anthropic, social, and cultural forces.

The project is conceived as a new city center where the desertic climate of the area becomes a premise to generate paths with shadows and lakes connected and contained by the same walkway that functions as a jogging path and generates different routes throughout the project.

La sorpresa mayor es cuando, de pronto, se abre un pequeño claro y aparece una pequeña banca junto a un largo estanque de agua flanqueado en ambos lados por pórticos de columnas rectangulares que se reflejan en él. Da la impresión de haber llegado a un templo clásico abandonado. La casa consiste en una planta rectangular subdividida en seis espacios también rectangulares donde se alternan tres patios y tres espacios techados por las bóvedas.

La propuesta de intervención cuestiona la escala y los programas comerciales del centro. La inercia del corredor peatonal/comercial de Madero a alterado el comportamiento del perímetro A del Centro Histórico, transformando drásticamente los valores del suelo. El planteamiento aboga por la recuperarción del pasaje comercial como una tipología histórica y a su vez busca relacionarlo con un jardín cultural que ofrezca una condición alternativa al simple uso de comercio.

El pasaje diseñado por los arquitectos Joaquín Capilla y Teodoro Kunhardt se edifico con un estilo Art Déco.

Esta propuesta de vivienda se basa en gran medida en dos elementos mínimos que se entienden como requisitos para la fabricación de una casa: la pared y el techo. Mientras que el primero delimita la propiedad privada, este último ofrece refugio del sol, la lluvia.

El proyecto reflexiona entorno al espacio vacío que se pierde, haciendo un juego entre la casa -como un volumen positivo que albergo experiencias- y su contraparte, el espacio negativo.

El positivo es el volumen de la casa como tal y reproduce una imagen sintética del inmueble y sus rasgos arquitectónicos principales. El negativo es una representación del espacio residual del positivo, es una aproximación a los límites del antiguo volumen para delinearlo y esbozarlo como un recuerdo incompleto.

es un proyecto de reuso que reflexiona sobre la transformación de los espacios a través de sus materiales. Es una manera de entender la ciudad dentro de sus procesos de cambio, abordando no simplemente la estructura física que la conforma sino también los significados sociales que la crean y la determinan.

Si bien el material de demolición y su reutilización, son una parte importante del presente trabajo, el objetivo final del proyecto no se centra en el material tectónico y tangible sino más bien en el espacio vacío y los usos que se pierden tras la demolición del inmueble.

Oficinas CxC. La domesticidad entendida como un símbolo de identidad, busca establecer relaciones de cercanía y confianza entre el equipo de trabajo y los clientes.
Mediante materiales que remiten a situaciones del hogar (aplanados de pasta, cortinas, maderas, etc.) el proyecto busca vincularse con sus ocupantes. La distribución de los espacios busca vestibulaciones y recorridos que de igual manera nos recuerdan a los recorridos de una vivienda.
La integración de la domesticidad en el mundo corporativo ofrece posibilidades de re-significación de los usos de oficina en un momento en donde es inminente una transformación de los espacios de trabajo.
El futuro corporativo seguirá siendo incierto (aún) sin embargo es necesario establecer ejercicios que nos permitan reflexionar el como los espacios de trabajo pueden funcionar como una extensión de nuestro espacio doméstico.
