Today I sold this abstract ocean inspired piece. I wondered what female artist has sold the most expensive painting? I discovered that Georgia O’Keeffe‘s painting sold at Sotheby’s on November 20 2014 for $44.4 million. So I guess I have some goals to look forward to.

I feel such elation when I put my hands through the sand. The sand reminds me of my dream to live near the ocean. I am beyond grateful to be able to call Sayulita my home and create beautiful ocean inspired artwork.

It was great to be able to photograph Derek for a change. He is known in our pueblo for always carrying camera. He took his first encaustic class with me and created lovely artwork. Thank you!

So exciting to see the progression of my students painting with wax and using a blow torch.

Do something new, take an art class! I appreciate the enthusiasm that Micheal and his lovely wife, Mel shared with me. Everyone can make art...especially when you can use a blow torch.

The layers of wax build up quickly on these fun small sizes.

Each painting is not just a picture of a wave, but it is an expression of myself. I paint from my experiences and feelings.

So fun having these two beautiful sisters in the studio today. They did such a great job learning encaustic painting for their first time.
