As a spin instructor I use music to write the story of workout, the journey in sweat. Each song hits differently for every person and it’s an honor to hold the space and experience this journey with them.
It’s a affirmation for me when a client shares a ‘spin booty’pic or sheds tears of joy or pain during or after a class or just sings along and isn’t afraid to let it out. Coming to the bike takes courage and I am grateful to the community and how they continue to show up, clip in and push forward together.

Introducing Paz Mendez to the Salt Fitness team. Paz is a Pilates,barre and yoga instructor and brings her amazing knowledge and passion for movement and strength to the community and studio. Paz is available this month for private reformer sessions. Starting in March she will be teaching group mat pilates, barre and yoga classes.

Wow, there are so many new faces here, I thought I’d take a minute to introduce myself. Hi! I am Chenoa, owner of Salt Fitness, barre and spin instructor. Aside from my love for teaching and taking spin and barre classes, I also have a passion for running, surfing, Pilates, HIIT and TRX. Additionally I am a human and dog mom and birth doula here is Baja Sur. My passion, in all aspects of life lies at the cross between motivating people in what I love and bringing them to love it too, bringing them to levels they didn’t know they were capable of, this is the highlight of what I do at Salt and out in the world and it is the most gratifying feeling.

Lets talk about interval training...aka HIIT and Tabata.
Interval training is a broad term for workouts that involve short periods of intense exercise alternated with recovery periods.
One of the biggest advantages of HIIT is that you can get maximal health benefits in minimal time.Interval training involves short bursts of intense exercise alternated with low intensity recovery periods. Interestingly, it is perhaps the most time-efficient way to exercise.
7 Benefits of Interval training:
-You can burn calories quickly using HIIT
-Your metabolic rate is higher for hours after HIIT exercise, this helps burn calories after you are done exercising.
-Interval training can reduce body fat despite the relatively short time commitment.High intensity intervals can produce similar fat loss to traditional endurance exercise, even with a much smaller time commitment. They can also reduce waist circumference.
-Gain muscle using HIIT.
-Improves oxygen consumption.
Oxygen consumption is your muscles’ ability to use oxygen. Endurance training is typically used to improve your oxygen consumption.
-HIIT can reduce blood pressure and heart rate, primarily in people with overweight or obesity who also have high blood pressure.
High intensity interval training may be especially beneficial for those needing to reduce blood sugar and insulin resistance. Research has found these improvements in people with and without diabetes.

Gabrielle will be teaching barre for me this Friday October 28th and the coming Monday October 31st.
Gabrielle grew up dancing competitively and studied dance at a college level. After graduating she worked as a dancer and dance instructor. She is a lover of travel and almost every type of movement. She believes that movement is an essential part of life and healing. She has taught yoga, barre and fitness classes for the past 6 years in Todos Santos.
