Tulum Movie Nights

Dear friends!! We thought the weather was going to make our Movie Night this week impossible, but apparently things are changing. So if the sky doesn't look ominous or rain is falling, we will meet you tomorrow (Wednesday September 3) at 7.30 PM for our scheduled movie: Groundhog Day!

The meeting point is Aura Beach Club, KM 8.5 of the Tulum-Bocapaila beach road, just next to Agua Hotel. The entrance is MX$ 50 (USD 4), which you can then use for the drinks and food menu offered by Aura.

Dear friends, we will be meeting again tonight at 7.30 PM to see a new jewel in our collection for this month: GROUNDHOG DAY, with Bill Murray and Angie McDowell, one of the belles of the strange movies of the 1990s.

A weather man is reluctantly sent to cover a story about a weather forecasting "rat" (as he calls it). This is his fourth year on the story, and he makes no effort to hide his frustration. On awaking the 'following' day he discovers that it's Groundhog Day again, and again, and again. First he uses this to his advantage, then comes the realisation that he is doomed to spend the rest of eternity in the same place, seeing the same people do the same thing EVERY day.

The movie will start at 8 PM at Aura Beach Club (Tulum-Bocapaila Road, KM 8.5, just beside Agua Hotel on the beach side). The cover price is MX$ 50 (USD 4), which can be used towards any of the food and beverage products offered by Aura, our hosts.

If you want to have a great time enjoying a magical movie under the stars of the Tulum night, by the beach, please join us. Bringing food and/or beverages from home is not allowed. Pets not allowed.

The event will be cancelled if it rains or if the weather looks like it will probably rain.

Summary:
A bright-eyed young actress travels to Hollywood, only to be ensnared in a dark conspiracy involving a woman who was nearly murdered, and now has amnesia because of a car crash. Eventually, both women are pulled into a psychotic illusion involving a dangerous blue box, a director named Adam Kesher, and the mysterious night club Silencio.

The movie we are watching tomorrow, Wednesday August 6th:
THE TRUMAN SHOW

Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) is an insurance salesman leading an idyllic, peaceful life on Seahaven Island. Truman also happens to be the star of the most popular live show in television history. The only problem is, he has no idea.

The entire island of Seahaven is revealed to be a complete fabrication; a massive set surrounded by a protective dome that produces the most sophisticated effects and imagery to mimic the sky, weather, and temperature of the real world. Set just off of what appears to be the coast of Florida, the dome is run by a massive staff hidden just beyond its barriers and managed by the artistically eccentric Director, Christof (Ed Harris). Christof has filmed Truman since just before his birth and sees the project as a ray of hope; a way to truthfully portray a person's life nonstop while maintaining their innocence.

It is on Day 10,909 of Truman's life that things begin to change. As he's getting ready for work, he greets his neighbors across the street before a mysterious object falls from the sky and lands near his car. When Truman looks up, however, the sky is clear and offers no explanation for the object, which looks just like a studio light...

THE BIG BLUE... Enzo and Jacques have known each other for a long time. Their friendship started in their childhood days in the Mediterranean. They were not real friends in these days, but there was something they both loved and used to do the whole day long: diving. One day Jacques' father, who was a diver too, died in the Mediterranean sea. After that incident Enzo and Jacques lost contact. After several years, Enzo and Jacques had grown up, Johanna, a young clerk in a security office, has to go to Peru. There she meets Jacques who works for a group of scientists. He dives for some minutes into ice-cold water and the scientists monitor his physical state that is more like a dolphin's than a human's. Johanna can not believe what she sees and gets very interested in Jacques but she's unable to get acquainted with him. Some weeks later, back in her office, she notices a championship for divers that is supposed to take place in Taormina, Italy. In order to see Jacques again she makes up a story so the firm sends her to Italy for business purposes. In Taormina there is also Enzo, the reigning diving world champion. He knows that only Jacques can challenge and probably beat him. This time Johanna and Jacques get closer, but Jacques, being more a dolphin than a man, can not really commit and his rivalry with Enzo pushes both men into dangerous territory...
