The Tren Maya will irreversibly damage the caves in Quintana Roo. These caves or cenotes are the very thing that attracts tourist to this region in the first place and the cenotes are also the iconic face of Mexico, and an entire tourism industry depends on the cenotes.
The cenotes are the livelihood of thousands of businesses big and small, not to mention the countless famillies that directly depend on the revenue the cenotes provide.
