Congratulations to our Dive Centre manager Shannon on completing her TDI - Technical Diving International CCR Heliotrox certification on the SCUBA FORCE SF2 rebreather. We can offer entry level CCR training on the SF2 as well as cave CCR classes on multiple units. Our training philosophy is to go to the limit of your certification during a class, and cave classes will include multiple much longer dives than can be achieved on open circuit. All classes are heavily influenced by Human Factors principles and the work of The Human Diver. Get in touch if you want to get involved. No bubbles, no troubles!

The Bell Island Wrecks are spectacular, so we are heading back with an Underworld Adventures trip in September 2025. It will be primarily wreck diving, with the option of a day or two in the mine for suitably qualified divers. Exact dates will be confirmed in the next few days, but get in touch if you are interested!

We are running an event away from Tulum this week, with our Cave Camp event exploring the wrecks and mine passages of Bell Island. The water is a little bit more chilly, but the diving is spectacular, and the hospitality and logistics from Ocean Quest Adventures first class!

Another quality week at Underworld HQ! We started with some fun in the Ocean finishing off a Tech DPV class for our friend Andy, did all of our regulator servicing for the year, and upgraded our truck to something that will fit 3 students with rebreathers, bailouts and DPVs. Looking forward to getting back in the caves next week!

We were chatting to some students during a recent class, and as always shared some tips, tricks and additional information that we have gathered during many years of teaching and diving in diverse environments. We thought it may be nice to share some of this stuff more widely, so here we go!

The first thing we are sharing is this useful chart that shows hose lengths and fittings for different configurations. Please enjoy and feel free to share. Send a DM for a pdf version (which FB won't allow me to post on a business page).

Well done to Cory on qualifying as a Stage Cave diver! Some hard work and steady improvement over the course culminated in a fun graduation dive in Tortuga. Thanks also to Stu and Mickey for helping throughout. Some interesting cave conditions and more mosquitoes than strictly necessary made for a challenging course and wearing of drysuits, hoods and masks in the truck!

Congratulations to Tom St George and Jeb for passing a demanding CCR class with Lanny over the last week. Post-class tacos were definitely earned after a challenging series of complex 3 hour plus dives with simulated failures designed to build the team and demonstrate the limits of the rebreather. Our training philosophy is to use a CCR to its full potential, rather than completing typical 60-90 minute dives that could easily be done on open circuit. We also include diver rescue on all our CCR and cave courses. Get in touch if you want to book some high quality training!

We have had a great week in some fairly challenging conditions working on Stage Cave Skills and experiencing some beautiful passage. Lots of flow (for Mexico), lots of tannic water and some interesting conditions on the surface!

KEEP IT SIMPLE: Musings About the SF2 - InDEPTH 07/06/2024

We are loving this article from the excellent In Depth Magazine about the development of the excellent SCUBA FORCE SF2 rebreather. The bellows counterlung makes it one of the most robust and flood recoverable units out there, and it is perfect for demanding cave dives.

Underworld can offer cave and technical training on the SF2, and we have rental units available if you want to complete a CCR class without having to invest in your own unit. No bubbles no troubles!

KEEP IT SIMPLE: Musings About the SF2 - InDEPTH Thus, the basic idea of the Scuba Force SF2 Rebreather was born: integrate an electronic control into a PSCR system.

We had a fun week with Rob and Diane, improving CCR skills, drills and failure responses to operate in the overhead environment safely. Lots of fun dives, new skills learnt and progress made - nice work guys!

We love working with experienced CCR divers to refine and hone techniques and show you some beautiful cave passage. Rebreather cave classes are available through IANTD and TDI - Technical Diving International, and can be taught on the SF2, JJ-CCR, AP Units, Kiss Sidewinder, Fathom Gemini or Megalodon. No bubbles no troubles!

The first two Otter Watersports Drysuits Agean suits in Mexico! Otter's newest suit is slightly lighter than the Atlantic, but constructed of more hardwearing material. It looks great (and would look even better with younger and more attractive models) and is perfect for demanding cave dives.

A very cool day at the stunning Cenote Orquidea, running some drills for Rob and Diane as they make some great progress on their journey to be CCR Cave divers. Nice work guys!

Huge congratulations to Marco and Sven on a superb TDI - Technical Diving International Intro Cave course. You guys nailed it and came with commitment, focus and a desire to improve every day. It was a pleasure working with you on your diving 😁

Congratulations to Michael and Adam for passing Rebreather cave training with Lanny. It is always a pleasure to work with dive industry professionals, and Team "Where's Mickey" coped with multiple complex failures a long way back in the cave, and enjoyed some nice long dives in some stunning passage. Our philosophy for Cave CCR is to use the full capabilities of the technology, rather than doing shorter dives that would be possible on an open circuit cave class. We integrate Human Factors in all our classes and enjoyed the excellent "If Only" movie from The Human Diver. We also used some of the excellent CCR resources on the GB Divering Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/

Get in touch if you are interested in our comprehensive CCR Cave classes on the SF2, JJ-CCR, Inspiration, Kiss Sidewinder or Fathom Gemini.

We had a fun coaching day yesterday running through some stage diving protocols, skills and drills. Team "Three Wise Monkeys" adopted a sensible approach to exposure protection with matching Otter Watersports Drysuits! Underworld can arrange a bespoke coaching day to review or improve any aspect of your tech, CCR or cave diving.

Congratulations Nick On Rascal for passing his Technical DPV class, with some fun scooter dives in cenotes and the ocean. Tech DPV (or equivalent experience) is a prerequisite for a Cave DPV programme with Underworld and is a great opportunity to gain experience and comfort on a scooter. Get in touch if you want to have a lot more fun underwater!

It was nice to be back in the water with Nick On Rascal and the Sidemount CCRs to test a few tweaks and adjustments. The loop covers from our friends at D-Luxe Dive Gear are looking very cool and make routing the HUD cable much simpler.

Big congratulations to Andy Baigent on completing your first technical diving course- TDI - Technical Diving International Intro To Tech! We spent 4 days working on foundational skills for twinset diving, with lots of time fine-tuning buoyancy, trim, ascents, failures and propulsion. All the best Andy, you’re in a great place to start tec or cave training 😁
