Hin Bus Depot presents 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝘽𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 , a duo exhibition by wildlife photographer Peter Ong and visual artist Christine Das, united by their passion for wildlife and conservation. The exhibition showcases the rich biodiversity of Peninsula Malaysia, with a particular focus on its primate species, offering a rare and intimate glimpse into the lives of our not-so-distant cousins.
Peter Ong’s photography, which has extensively documented all primate species in Peninsula Malaysia, captures their beauty while shedding light on the urgent need to protect them and their rapidly disappearing habitats. His intimate portraits reveal the critical role these primates play within the ecosystem while highlighting the pressing conservation challenges they face in an increasingly fragile environment.
In response to Peter’s poignant photography, Christine Das brings a new dimension through her detailed graphite drawings. Known for her nature-inspired works, Christine interprets the vulnerability and majesty of Malaysia’s primates with emotional depth, reimagining Peter’s visual narratives through her unique artistic lens. Together, their works form a dialogue with Peter capturing real-life moments in the wild, and Christine responding with her own visual language, resulting in a powerful statement about the delicate balance of nature and the pressing need for its preservation.
What began as an artistic collaboration in Monkey Business has evolved into a creative crusade for conservation. Together, Peter and Christine aim to raise awareness about Malaysia’s rich biodiversity, presenting a compelling narrative through photography and drawing that celebrates the beauty of nature while urging the critical need for its protection.

We invite you to explore 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭, a solo watercolor exhibition by Leong Yoke Mee (Ammi). Her paintings capture the special relationship between hornbills and indigenous honey harvesters, set in one of Malaysia’s oldest lowland rainforests.
Ammi’s dedication is clear through the stories she shares. During her field research, she faced many challenges, including the buzzing of wild bees during honey harvesting. Despite the risks, she was determined to understand the connection between the people and nature. Her work reflects the deep respect indigenous communities have for the rainforest and the animals that live there.
This exhibition showcases her unique paintings, each one highlighting the beauty of the forest and the need to protect it. Through her art, Ammi hopes to raise awareness about conserving hornbills, bees, and the forests they depend on.
