Program Geran Pembangunan Komuniti Lenggong merupakan satu inisiatif yang disokong oleh Yayasan Hasanah

Think City, alongside the Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI), Penang State Government, Penang Island City Council, Yayasan Hasanah and with the technical partnership of Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), is rejuvenating and reimagining Fort Cornwallis. This effort includes reinstating the Southern and Western moats, originally built in 1804 and filled in 1921. The moats, which acted as a catchment area, will now serve as public spaces. Guided by the George Town Strategic Area Plan, this initiative is part of the North Seafront Improvement Programme, showcasing the benefits of a culture-based approach to sustainable development in George Town. Completion is set for 2025. Here are some Before and After pictures of the newly reinstated Southern Moat - which is now going through a landscape stabalising and maturing phase and will be made accessible to the public very soon.

🌟 Do you know the history of George Town’s UNESCO World Heritage Day? Founded in 1786 by Francis Light, George Town was the first British settlement in Southeast Asia. Named after King George III, this historic city has thrived for over 500 years, blending Eastern and Western cultures.

On July 7th, we celebrate George Town’s inclusion as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, marking its rich heritage and vibrant multicultural atmosphere.

Think City has been at the heart of George Town’s transformation, from the George Town Grants Programme to Nature-based Solutions for Climate Adaptation, and the restoration of Fort Cornwallis. Our journey in Penang serves as a model for urban rejuvenation across the cities we work in.

Kami di Think City teruja dan menzahirkan penghargaan kepada YB Puan Hannah Yeoh, Menteri Belia dan Sukan, kerana telah merasmikan Sidang Anak Muda Program Kita-Untuk-Kita (K2K) anjuran Think City dan Persatuan Belia Seri Cempaka (PBSC).

Program ini merupakan platform yang amat unik, di mana 40 wakil belia daripada 10 kawasan perumahan awam di Lembah Klang telah berkumpul untuk membahas dan mencadangkan penyelesaian terhadap isu-isu komuniti perumahan awam. Melalui inisiatif ini, anak-anak muda dari PPR diperkasa dengan kemahiran berdebat dan berbincang seperti dalam suasana Parlimen.

Inisiatif ini tidak hanya mengasah kemahiran kepimpinan dan penglibatan belia tetapi juga memberi peluang kepada mereka untuk menyuarakan pandangan dan cadangan dalam agenda pembangunan negara. Tahniah diucapkan kepada kumpulan penyelidik Bukit Choras dari Pusat Penyelidikan Arkeologi Global (PPAG), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) atas penemuan arca Buddha bersaiz manusia dari abad ke-8 hingga ke-9 di Tapak Warisan Arkeologi Bukit Choras, Yan, Kedah.

Usaha yang diketuai oleh Dr. Nasha Rodziadi Khaw, hasil kerjasama antara Jabatan Warisan Negara (JWN) dan USM ini membuktikan bahawa kawasan itu bukan sahaja tapak keagamaan yang penting pada ketika itu, malah ia berusia lebih tua berbanding Angkor Wat dan Borobudur.

Selain arca Buddha, turut ditemui ialah prasasti (batu bertulis) Sanskrit dan serpihan tembikar tanah yang memberikan tafsiran baru tentang kedudukan geostrategik Kedah Tua sebagai kota penting dalam jalur perdagangan maritim Asia Tenggara.

Dengan sokongan Think City dan Kementerian Kewangan Malaysia melalui Program Geran Pemangkin Ekonomi Budaya di bawah Rangkaian Arkeopelancongan Wilayah Utara Malaysia, penemuan ini menggambarkan kekayaan warisan dan sejarah tamadun awal Malaysia.

Kami juga berharap penemuan ini dapat menyuntik semangat agar lebih banyak usaha diambil untuk menggiatkan wilayah utara Malaysia dengan aset warisan yang boleh menjadi penyumbang utama kepada ekonomi negara.

Young leaders shine at Sidang Anak Muda K2K, debated motions to be proposed to govt for Budget 2025

Through a two-day session, participants get to develop their skills to debate, discuss and solve problems in an atmosphere akin to Parliamentary seatings.

During the programme, eight out of 20 motions proposed by the participants were chosen to be raised in the Sidang Anak Muda K2K.

These issues included education dropout, sexual harassment, one-stop counseling centre, initiatives to empower the youth economy, strengthen the mental health literacy of the PPR community, construction of modern and comprehensive PPR plan and the creation of a financial management mechanism to avoid bankruptcy among PPR youths at a young age.
