The index vane is usually the one out of three vanes with the different colour (in this case, it's the green one). Depending on the arrow rest in use, this vane could be facing different directions. The goal is for the vanes to avoid contact the arrow rest, or part of the arrow rest, in a way that will alter the arrow's flight path or cause damage to the equipment.

For recurve and traditional archers, the index vane faces away from the bow; whilst for compound archers, the index vane faces upwards (i.e. for whisker biscuits users), or in some cases downwards (i.e. for drop-down or launcher-style arrow rest users).

Kindly note that the default vane settings of our arrows are for recurve archers. If you are a compound archer buying our arrows, please leave a note when you make the purchase. For example, "index face up, for compound archers," so our team can prepare the arrows just the way you want them. Thanks and happy shooting!
