Diabetic pregnancy (also known as gestational diabetes) is a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy. It occurs when the body is unable to produce or effectively use enough insulin to control blood sugar levels.

Untreated gestational diabetes can cause health problems for both the mother and the baby, including an increased risk of preeclampsia, premature delivery, and cesarean section. Infants born to mothers with uncontrolled gestational diabetes may also have a higher risk of complications such as hypoglycemia, jaundice, and respiratory distress.

Gestational diabetes can be managed with proper medical care, including regular blood glucose monitoring, a healthy diet, and exercise. It is important for women with gestational diabetes to work closely with their healthcare providers to ensure that their blood sugar levels remain within a healthy range.

The baby’s organs start to form, and the mother experiences morning sickness, fatigue and mood swings.
➡️2𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 (𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙠 14 - 26)
The baby starts moving, and the mother’s energy levels increase. The baby’s body grows, and the mother may start feeling the baby’s kicks.

Let’s welcome our Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr Soo Fan, on board.

Dr Soo Fan was awarded membership in the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in London, and further worked in the O&G Department of several hospitals in Malaysia.

With 12 years of experience, she is proficient in antenatal care, gynaecological diseases and family planning. She is passionate about breastfeeding and dedicated herself to educating all levels of healthcare staffs, medical students, as well as patients via workshops. She consistently keeps herself updated to guide mothers as best she can throughout their breastfeeding journey.
