Company Milestone

SiD was incorporated by the Sabah State Government to implement the State School Milk Programme since its inception.

The company’s mission is to:

contribute towards the national development goal of healthy citizens;

participate in the development of the Sabah State dairy industry;

achieve the goal as premium quality product manufacturer;

strive for winning award as a 3rd-party manufacturing contract packer adhering to 1st world standard (exporting to Singapore).

Vision

SiD is East Malaysia’s biggest dairy manufacturer specialising in pasteurised & UHT milk products.

In 1979 when the State Government of Sabah initiated the feeding programme for school children. As food safety was one of the main objectives, it was decided that packaged milk would be the best way to provide nutrition for children. SiD’s Tetra Pak processing & filling lines was built to facilitate the milk programme.

Production Facilities

There are 3 main production lines in the factory, namely:

fresh milk processing line;

UHT milk/juice processing line;

ice cream processing line.

The fresh milk processing line pasteurises the milk by heating it to 85 degrees Celsius for 15 seconds. This heat treatment will eliminate all pathogenic bacteria. Pasteurised milk must be kept chilled at 4 degrees Celsius & under such conditions, the milk will have a shelf life of 11 days.

The UHT processing line uses the Ultra Heat Treatment (U.H.T.) process. This process brings the liquid products to a high temperature of not less than 135 degrees Celsius, for at least 2 seconds and renders it sterile while preserving the natural flavour & nutritional value. This brief exposure to ‘heat shock’ eliminates all pathogenic micro-organisms & when aseptically packed, the products have a shelf life of 9 months without refrigeration.

Production Capacity

The company currently produces:

pasteurised fresh milk using one unit of Nimco filling machine with an option of 500 ml & 1,000 ml packaging sizes;

UHT products in 200 ml slim sizes packages with straw attached using 3 untis of HUT filling machines;

UHT products in 1,000 ml slim sizes packages with helicap application.

Quality Assurance

Products of premium quality are maintained through stringent Quality Assurance Policy where:

quality control is in place throughout the chain - from sourcing of raw materials during production, storage & delivery to customers;

a series of chemical, physical & microbiological tests are carried out on all incoming raw materials & on the finished products to ensure only products of the highest quality;

the product & processes conform to the regulatory standard under Malaysian Food Act 1983 & Regulation 1985;

All products are certified & are in compliance with:

Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification by the Ministry of Health Malaysiaa & SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd.

Veterinary Health Mark (VHM) certification by the Department of Veterinary Malaysia;

Halal certification by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).

The role of SiD in the School Milk Programmes

The Sabah School Milk Programme is synonymous with the dairy industry in Sabah. Since the Sabah School Milk Programme was implemented in 1980, SiD has been entrusted by the Sabah School State Government to manufacture, supply & deliver UHT 200 ml packet milk to all primary schools & kindergarten students throughout the state.

School Milk Products

The school milk packages under the Sabah State School Milk Programme are graphically designed with the ‘Mat Pintar’ cartoon character to inculcate the milk drinking habit among the young school children.

Commercial Products

The list of commercial market products are:

1,000 ml UHT ‘Daily Dairy’ brand milk for the local markets & for export;

200 ml UHT Grow Vanilla & Chocolate Milk are for export to Vietnam & Singapore;

1,000 ml pasteurised ‘Dairy Delights’ brand fresh milk for local market;

bulk pasteurised fresh milk for export;

‘Sabah Froz’ Fresh Milk Ice Cream produced in 100ml cups, was made possible through the cooperation of Sabah International Dairies & Eu Yan Sang Malaysia.
