Hi Parents,
Have you ever wished you could capture every detail of your child's evolving interests and personality?
As a mom of two boys and a girl, I've seen firsthand how quickly their likes and dislikes can change.
One day, my 7-year-old is fascinated by dinosaurs, and the next, he's dreaming of space adventures. It's incredible to watch their hobbies and passions grow and shift over time.
That's why I'm thrilled to introduce a fantastic tool for preserving these precious moments: the My Back-to-School Interview.
This printable helps kids reflect on their goals, interests, and feelings as they gear up for a new school year.
Great book - Memoirs of an Educator by Mohan Dallumal
(I supposed to get his book last year but then because of some issues arose, I didn’t get it. After a year I got his book eventually 🙏🏻)
Memoirs of an Educator, a thoughtful and introspective look into the life and career of an experienced educator.
For those in the same career, the book offers a special connection, as it dedicates substantial attention to the relationships formed with students and colleagues—relationships that often define the teaching experience.
These interactions are portrayed as powerful influences that shape both the educator and those they teach. The memoir also touches on broader themes, such as the role of education in driving social change, the importance of lifelong learning, and the need for a more holistic approach to developing students.
The book intertwines personal stories, professional hurdles, and deep reflections on the essence of education and its broader societal impact. The author Mohan guides readers through the different stages of their career, sharing both the victories and challenges they faced in the educational field🙏🏻
The memoir is organized around pivotal moments in the author’s professional journey. Each chapter explores various facets of teaching, from the early years as a beginner to the later stages as an experienced mentor.
The author reflects on the evolution of educational methods over the years, the shifting dynamics within the classroom, and the persistent challenges that educators continue to encounter.
A large portion of the memoir is devoted to the relationships the author built with students and colleagues, emphasizing the significant impact these connections had on both the author and those they influenced. The book also explores larger themes, such as education's role in driving social change, the importance of continuous learning, and the need for a more comprehensive approach to nurturing student growth.
Just the other day, I was at the family gathering, chatting with my friend. Out of nowhere, her kids started to get antsy.
Instead of getting annoyed, she pulled out these cute little notebooks from her bag and gave one to each of them.
She asked them, "Show me what you’re feeling right now."
They got right into it, scribbling away.
A few minutes later, she asked, "What’s all this?"
One child said their scribbles were trees swaying in the wind, and the other–a giant dragon.
This simple activity was such a smart, calm way to handle the moment.
That’s why I’m excited to introduce The Scribble Book: A Place to Scribble My Frustration.
What a lovely idea for calming kids and channeling their energy creatively! It's great how something as simple as a notebook can turn a potentially stressful moment into a fun and expressive activity. Introducing "The Scribble Book: A Place to Scribble My Frustration" sounds like a fantastic resource for parents and kids alike. Would you like any tips or any specific content to include in it? Hey Parents!
After many festivities this past week, it’s time to tune into another personal growth focus area - Mind Mastery 💡
Robin Sharma, in his book The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, beautifully describes this concept by comparing our minds to gardens—if we cultivate them with positive thoughts 💡they will blossom 🌺if we neglect them 🖐🏻 weeds 🌱will take over.
This is a powerful reminder of the importance to plant seeds of positivity and mindfulness in kids daily.
In the weeks ahead, we'll introduce you to simple yet powerful tools. It might sound like we're diving into the deep end, but don't worry—even if you're new to this, these tricks aren't just for your kids. They might even turn you into a mind mastery ninja!
Here are three areas of responsibility to help grow mind mastery in your kids:
Thought Gardening:
As you nurture your children's minds, think of it as tending a garden of thoughts. You're guiding them to cultivate positive thinking, gently removing negativity to make room for uplifting thoughts to thrive.
Emotion Cultivation:
Cultivating emotions in your children is like providing the right conditions for a garden to flourish. You're helping them understand and express feelings in healthy ways, teaching them to recognize different emotions and manage them with kindness and empathy.
Behavioral Harvesting:
Finally, you're guiding the fruits of their mental labor—their actions and behaviors. You're supporting your children in making wise choices and acting with integrity. Encouraging behaviors that align with their values and goals helps them blossom into confident and compassionate individuals.
By nurturing these three areas—thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—you become the mentor guiding your child to grow their mindfulness and resilience.

Signs of your kids are looking for more Connections 💕
Do you remember the carnival game Whack-a-Mole?
Moles keep popping up in little holes, and you’re supposed to “whack” each one. The tricky part is, you never know where they’ll pop up next, and the game keeps getting faster.
Here’s why this reminds me of connecting with our kids:
💓When your child starts popping up more frequently, they are often looking for more attention. If you can’t stop and connect at that moment, they’ll likely pop up again a few minutes later.
💞When my sons want more connection, they often follow me around, ask me to “watch them” more frequently, or constantly ask to play.
Instead of feeling annoyed with this behavior…
I see this as a signal that they need more time and attention.
💗Even something as simple as taking a mini work break to enjoy a snack together can help my kids feel seen, especially when I focus on them during our “snack break.”
💝If I can’t take a break right away, I make sure to communicate when they can expect my undivided attention. No matter how busy my day is, I always sprinkle in a few moments of connection with them throughout the day.
💕This week’s parenting guide is all about noticing your child’s attempts to communicate their need for attention and finding ways to meet those needs throughout the day.

Sometimes, being the "bad guy" as a parent isn't just okay—it's necessary.
If your child feels pressured into doing something they're unsure about, give them your permission to use you as their excuse.
A friend of mine once shared how her father gave her this advice as a child:
"If you ever feel pressured to do something that doesn't feel right, just blame me."
She used this strategy effectively during a sleepover where she felt uncomfortable with the planned activities, telling her friends, "My dad is super strict and says I can't go."
Now, I pass the same advice to my children. While it’s crucial to teach our kids to assertively say "No, I don’t want to!" we must also recognize that not all situations are the same.
In those tougher moments when they might not feel bold enough to outright refuse, giving them a way out can be a lifeline.
This week’s parenting guide focuses on equipping your child to handle peer pressure by using this simple but effective strategy, alongside nurturing their assertiveness for when they feel strong enough to stand firm on their own.

Thinking Skills Determine Your Child’s Lifelong Success 💡💡
Developing strong thinking skills early in life is crucial for your child’s future success.
💡Critical Thinking
Encourage your child to analyze information, question assumptions, and consider different perspectives. This helps in making reasoned judgments and solving complex problems.
💡Creativity
Foster creativity by allowing your child to explore their imagination through art, music, storytelling, and play. Creative thinking enables innovative problem-solving and adaptability.
💡Problem-Solving
Teach your child how to break down problems into smaller parts, brainstorm solutions, and evaluate outcomes. Problem-solving skills build resilience and confidence.
💡Decision-Making
Help your child practice making decisions independently from an early age. Guide them to weigh options, consider consequences, and learn from their choices.
💡Logical Reasoning
Introduce activities that involve patterns, sequencing, and logical thinking. These skills are essential for understanding cause and effect relationships.
💡Communication Skills
Effective communication is crucial for expressing ideas, listening actively, and collaborating with others. Encourage conversations and discussions to strengthen these abilities.
💡Information Literacy
Teach your child how to find, evaluate, and use information from various sources. This skill is vital in today’s digital age for making informed decisions.
💡Metacognition
Help your child develop metacognitive skills, which involve thinking about their own thinking processes. This awareness enhances self-regulation and continuous learning.
By nurturing these thinking skills, you empower your child to navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and achieve their goals throughout life.

Quizzing 1 on World Capitals
Let's start improving our geography skills by quizzing us on world capitals.
Let’s start with an easy one:
What is the capital of Malaysia 🇲🇾 ?
Last weekend, we were at a birthday party where my son accidentally spilled his drink all over his shirt.
He was embarrassed and initially, it seemed like his day was ruined.
I saw a chance to talk about the circle of control. I told him:
“Imagine you’re a superhero with a special power bubble around you. Inside the bubble, you can control your actions, like how you react when accidents happen.
Outside the bubble are things you can't control—like stopping the drink from spilling once it's already happened.”
Understanding that he couldn't undo the spill helped him calm down. He decided to laugh it off and asked for help to clean up.
The circle of control is a very helpful concept to understand for children.
That’s why we’re thrilled to share our new My Circle of Control: Mistakes Happen poster with you this week.
Have a great weekend ahead everyone!💕
Absolutely, play is a crucial part of the learning process. It helps kids develop social skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and cognitive functions in a fun and engaging way.
Hey kids, be careful not to fall down! 😅😬😛 😅😬😛
Critical thinking in education 💡
📕📗📘📙📖📚📒
Teaching children to read is fundamental, but equally crucial is instilling in them the ability to question and analyze the information they encounter.
This approach encourages deeper understanding, fosters curiosity, and helps children develop the skills necessary to discern credible sources from unreliable ones, ultimately empowering them to become independent thinkers and informed individuals.
To All Parents 💡
Here’s a set of guidelines aimed at fostering responsible and respectful behavior in children.
1. Avoid indulging every request:
📌Prevents a sense of entitlement.
2. Avoid laughing at disrespectful language:
📌Discourages seeing disrespect as humorous.
3. Avoid ignoring bad behavior:
📌Reinforces the importance of societal rules.
4. Avoid cleaning up their messes:
📌Encourages personal responsibility.
5. Avoid unrestricted TV watching:
📌Maintains a clear boundary between childhood and adulthood.
6. Avoid giving unlimited money:
📌Teaches the value of earning money.
7. Avoid siding with them when they are wrong:
📌Emphasizes accountability.
8. Avoid leaving them home during worship:
📌Encourages spiritual development.
These guidelines aim to instill discipline, respect, responsibility, and a sense of morality in children, which are essential for their growth into well-rounded adults.

Last weekend, we went on a mountain 🏔️ ⛰️ excursion that included riding a funicular🚠
The view from the platform was extremely steep🥶🫣 My youngest hesitated, nervous about the ride. He wanted to go but felt scared.
Then, something wonderful happened.
He took a deep breath, said, "I’m brave as a bear!" and stepped onto the funicular.
We've been using courageous affirmations at home, and it was amazing to see them work!
I'm excited to share these Courage Cards with you this week. They're a fun way to help your child build confidence with positive affirmations and brave actions.
Check them out! 👇
As always, thank you for reading and sharing. We’ll see you back here next week!

💡🌈Now to the parenting tip…
While walking through a bustling farmer's market 🥗🥕 🥦 I was struck by the neat rows of produce, each type of fruit and vegetable in its own bin 🗑️ .
The orderly setup made it easy to focus on choosing the best cucumber 🥒 without getting distracted by the sayur bayam (spinach) or sayur sawi (mustard greens).
That's when it hit me:
Our phone 📱 , just like these market bins 🗑️ need their own special place at home.
So, we set up a "Home Base" for our devices—a dedicated spot where we all 'park' our screens, especially during family time. This simple system keeps our devices out of the way, allowing us to enjoy meals and conversations.
It's a small step that makes a big difference in how we connect at home.
If you're inspired to organize your family's tech habits, consider making your own Family Tech Plan with our easy guide.
As always, thank you for reading and sharing. We’ll see you back here next week!
