Although cotton shawl are less delicate than other fabrics, I tend to treat them as if they are just as delicate and always choose hand washing over machine wash as it is much kinder to the fabric. I would recommend using a laundry bag if you inclined to use machine wash and please, please wash with caution and choose delicates setting. Please bear in mind that spin drying can distort the shape of the shawl so hang them up and let them dry naturally instead.
