HELLO MAG,
We want to thank Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) for the opportunity to serve Vietnam’s Finest Coffee to all the finest people who has now become Kee’pers carrying the flag of Malaysia's national carrier 🇲🇾🛫 here at KLIA Flight Management Building.
Kee Nguyễn as a Vietnamese Coffee brand has once again been elevated to a greater height thanks to all the opportunity and support we’ve gotten so far. It was an opportunity that we never actually believed we could achieve but all the genuine hard work has now paid off.
July 1st, 2024 the Soft Opening day of our KLIA Flight Management Building outlet was also the same day of our 5th Anniversary as a homegrown Malaysian brand. We took that day for a moment to reminisce all the 5 years we have been in business and it was nothing short of amazing and gratefulness.

Vietnamese Coffee drinking is a culture in itself in Vietnam 🇻🇳
In 2013, Starbucks opened their first coffee shop in Vietnam, hoping to cash in on the population's DEEP love for coffee. However, despite powerful marketing backed by a global name brand, Starbucks has STRUGGLED to overtake the $1 billion Vietnamese coffee market.
In the decade they’ve been in Vietnam, Starbucks has only managed to open 92 stores in a country where the arrogant executives planned to teach the locals how to drink coffee. For context, there are 191 stores in New York City alone. Why the massive failure?
First, to understand why Starbucks failed, we need to understand the Vietnamese people's PROFOUND love affair with coffee that seeps far deeper than a corporate giant's marketing department can estimate.
Walk down a Vietnamese street at ANY hour during the day, even at 2:00am, and you can expect to see the local coffee shops patronized with groups of friends, poets, writers, musicians...who probably have been SLOWLY sipping on their coffee for HOURS....enjoying each other's company and sharing ideas.
They're not in a HURRY to gulp 'n go anywhere, like how Americans treat their coffee as simply a mean to a quick caffeine fix. In fact, if a Vietnamese person invites you to coffee, you should plan for at least 2-4 hours, and maybe bring a guitar along. There is no such thing as “grabbing a quick cup of coffee” for us.
In Vietnam, coffee is thoroughly INTERTWINED into the culture. Do you know how many of our songs, poems, and books romanticize the imagery of the protagonist melancholically sipping their coffee while reminiscing their tragedy? More than I can count.
There is a reason why the classic Vietnamese coffee brewing method, which uses an aluminum filter called "phin," takes 20 MINUTES from start to finish. Hot water leisurely soaks into the tightly packed coffee ground then drip through sand-sized holes at a snail's pace....and that's because while you're waiting for the coffee, you're SUPPOSED to have a chat with your friends, or read a book, or write a song. The end result is an INTENSELY aromatic cup of coffee that will be worth the wait. To Vietnamese, coffee is meant for LINGERING.
And the marketing executives at Starbucks just simply did not understand this part of our culture. And that is why Starbucks overestimated their ability to BULLDOZE over the local mom and pop coffee shops with their overpriced and over-roasted, coffee-flavored sugar water. 😉
‼️I will share the video instruction for brewing a classic cup of Vietnamese coffee below ⬇️ for those who are interested.

Dear Kee’pers,
We truly are thankful and appreciate your continuous support for us since the day we started brewing at our first outlet in Seksyen 14, Petaling Jaya and until today it is still in our greatest pleasure and joy to be able to serve you all Vietnam’s Finest Coffee here in our home ground Malaysia.
We would like to announce that effective today 1st March 2024 (Friday) we will be standardising the menu price of all existing and operating Kee Nguyen outlets to our Signature outlet’s menu price because as some of you are aware that we have 2 different pricing for outlets depending on their location but coming 1st March 2024 (Friday) all menu prices will be the same across all Kee Nguyen outlets.
This decision was definitely not easy for us but it has been made after a careful thought and observation of the current economy. However due to the ever rising cost in both imported raw coffee from Vietnam and active ingredients this is a decision that we have to make for the well-being of the brand and for us to sustain in the long run.
Nevertheless due to this concern we have also come out with a solution for you all and we would like to take this chance to introduce a new cup size for all our menus that we call it Basic (12oz).
We will now have 3 cup sizes consist of Basic (12oz), Standard (16oz) & Large (22oz) ☕☕☕
We have also thrown in some additional stuff for you guys especially for our non-coffee drinkers Kee’pers you can now enjoy our Chocolate drink 😁. Hazelnut lovers! We got Hazelnut Salt and Hazelnut Yogurt for guys to explore on your nutty taste buds. Lastly we also got Phin-brewed coffee that will be introduced more in our next post.
We truly appreciate your kind understanding and continued support for us all these while and we look forward to serving your Kee’pers better.
Wishing all Kee’pers a HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR 🧧
May the Dragon 🐉 Year bring you prosperity and happiness ✨
