The Bike Artisans is away for a short ‘healing’ retreat at Woodstock Camp Janda Baik on Saturday July 27 to Sunday July 28. Our shop will be closed and we will be back on Monday July 29 11am as we cannot stand being away too long from you all, after all the healing is done.

The Bike Artisans Lakeside Mall is almost ready. In our new shop, each piece of steel and wood furniture is handmade and custom-built, true to the artisanal value we ascribe to. Recycle and up-cycle. Used bicycle hubs into cabinet k***s. Bicycle handlebars used as hanging racks. Bicycle saddles used as door handle. Used bicycle chainrings and chain embedded into our floor adds aesthetic value to the design concept. Even our chairs mimic the road dropbar complete with bartape. And the awesome line-up of bicycles accessories and custom-built bicycles soon to be revealed. The launch in August 2024 will soon be announced. We’re stoked. A new cutting-edge Torayca M40X carbon fiber is introduced, reducing frame-kit weight by over 10% (-108 grms).

Superb handling now with the new ONDA carbon fork with an increased fork rate of 47mm compared with 43mm from the previous DogmaF.

Improved aerodynamics of 0.2% drag coefficient still equates to a 7 sec winning margin.

Increased lateral stiffness: Trickling down from Filippo Ganna’s hour record set by his Piñarello Bolide, the new ‘aero-keel’ shaped BB improved aero performance by 1.2%. The new ONDA fork is slimmer, with a new 47mm rake, as compared with the previous 43mm. This improves handling and speed on descents.

Improved aerodynamics: An improvement of 0.2% of drag coefficient isn’t that big to shout about. But ‘marginal gains’ as preached by Team INEOS head honcho Sir David Brailsford is still a gain, albeit marginal. Winning by 7 secs is still a win. The new ULTRAFAST integrated handlebars are slimmer, lighter and with an improved cable routing, all internal of course. The new headtube is now shaped narrower.

KASK ELEMENTO Team INEOS GRENADIERS race helmet. The ELEMENTO has a series of carbon composite plates called Fluid Carbon 12. They work by intertwining a structure in the shell that moves to absorb impact, in the case of an accident. The carbon shell also improves airflow, so that’s the ‘marginal gains’ INEOS speaks about. Inside ELEMENTO, KASK uses 3D printed pads which allows air to flow right through the channels, cooling the rider while improving aerodynamics. The result is a claimed 1.5% aero advantage over the current KASK ICON. A new nylon strap is introduced for ELEMENTO. The INEOS colors are stunning, a combo of red, orange and carbon-black. “At first I thought the climbing on a steel SpeedVagen would be an effort but to my surprise it was actually ok. Not the fastest but ok. But the descent is awesome. Normally I get jittery when I hit 35+ kmh but this bike when descending, you don’t feel the speed. At one point when I looked at my headset, I was doing 50 kmh!!!! And it felt really like 30+”. The new Pinarello X7, a bike for riders who value comfort and fun-on-wheels over absolute performance. But it’s no slouch either. The X endurance geometry still gives 80% performance and balances it with 20% comfort with a taller stack and shorter reach over the F geometry.
