A new jazz platform is born with the inaugural event organised by No Black Tie, who present Jazz Piano Trio at Brown's Avenida Hotel, Lisbon on Thursday, 15 December 2022.

The intimate and elegant Honesty Bar lends itself well to the occasion with its warm ambience and acoustics. Oscar Peterson attributes the enduring appeal of jazz as a musical language to a simple word: honesty. "I think when a musician plays jazz, you're hearing the honest insides of that person..."
It was certainly an honestly electrifying evening filled with spontaneity, playfulness and sheer joy of music from award-winning Swiss pianist, Gabriel Zufferey and his Portuguese collaborators, Carlos Barretto on bass and Alex Frazão on drums, celebrating jazz greats such as Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Theolonius Monk, Dave Brubeck and Chick Corea.

A series of jazz soirées are planned in the New Year, with the next edition on January 26.

This album has 2 CDs and the music it contains is a real rarity, not found online. So if you own this CD it is a very special one.

This week we will finish our series by introducing two NBT Records albums that cannot be listened to online, but only if you have a CD. Quite special, isn't it?
First one - 'Bar One' by Deep Straits (John Dip Silas, Jonathan Ho, Benjamin Low) featuring Tony Lakatos. The album was recorded during a live performance at the club back in 2018.

We already introduced Michael Simon and his album 'Asian Connection' released on NBT Records to you before.
Today we present another album of Michael - 'Destiny's Will. Live at No Black Tie' - released back in 2015.
Besides many beautiful compositions, 'Getaran Jiwa' can also be found on this album, written by Malaysian composers P. Ramlee and S. Sudarmaji. It is a beautiful interpretation of the ballad, worth a listen.

Back in 2013 NBT Records released the album of an exceptional post-bop pianist - Kirk Lightsey called 'If You're Not Having Fun by Now...".

From a review about the album: "What is so striking about listening to this album is how it seems to emerge from nowhere, from no particular ‘genre’ or historical style This is a big sounding, unruly mass of lines, fragments, quotations, musical questions left unanswered, ideas taken up, dropped and restarted".

Another musical treat from NBT Records collection - Diego Maroto album "Diego Maroto Asian Trio" recorded live at No Black Tie back in 2013.
Mexican-born saxophone player once shared that his favorite types of jazz are bebop, hard bop and free jazz. If you are a lover of these types too, you need to listen to this album!
