Protruding front teeth can cause
TRAUMA to front teeth.
Especially when you can’t close you 👄 at rest.

This means when you fall or something hit your face, your lips🫦 is not giving the cushion effect to protect your front teeth.

So, it is important to be able to approximate your lips at rest.

severe midline discrepancy + severe crowding problems = teeth extraction

Most of the time, extraction of 2 or 4 teeth needed for better alignment and better smile symmetry.

Extraction for braces is a case by case basis, it is not one formula fits all 😉

Iva, Pn Suriana , En Idris and family have been my patient since 2016. Their permanent residence is in Singapore and used to come once a month for braces appointment. But due to many obstacles we’ve not seen each other for a few years.

❤️But today they made my day ❤️
Iva got accepted to University of Adelaide to pursue Dentistry. It was excellent news and she came to deliver that news with her family today. Lovely isn’t it !

You know you did something right when your patient wants to be a dentist exactly like you 🥰🥰🥰 I am so touched and it feels rewarding to know that when I see patients its more than just dentistry.

This young lady had started orthodontic treatment in another state. But because of the pandemic, travelling was not easy. So she came to us for solutions to her teeth problems.

Her teeth problems include
🦷open bite ( could’nt approximate front teeth)
🦷tongue thrusting (tongue pushing front teeth which is causing front teeth spacing)
🦷unattractive smile

First off, tongue tamers must be placed at the back of upper front teeth so that the tongue is reminded to not push the teeth forward. Once this is addressed, the spaces can be closed with minimal resistance.
Permanent retainers are mandatory for this case as the spaces might open up again.

Lovely smile transformation in just 1 year.

Me: Do you want to be a dentist when you grow up?
Kimberly: No, I want to be a Chinese teacher.
Me: Oh that's great! Later when you are a teacher, you can teach me Chinese ok...
Kimberly: But when I am a teacher, you become old already....old people don't go to school. They rest at home.
Me: 😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣
