HOW TO FIX ELONGATED SUCCULENT?

Elongated succulent means stretched succulent. This happens when they try to reach out for more light that they stretched themselves. So here’s a few steps on how to fix them.

1. Cut the stem to appropriate length.

2. Spray water from time to time and leave it

It will start to grow new flowers on the chopped stem after 2 weeks.

GRAFTING YOUR MOON CACTUS

Do you know that a colorful moon cactus is two distinct cactus species joined to make one unique plant?

It’s made from a process called ‘grafting’. To graft a moon cactus, you have to :-

1) Cut-off the top of the rootstock with a sterile knife

2) Slice the bottom of the scion

3) Mount the scion on top of the stock – vascular tissues overlapping

4) Fasten the graft securely with an adhesive tape or rubber band. I use rubber band as you can see in this post.

5) Apply sulfur powder to the open wounds (this isniptional)

6) Set aside in a shaded, dry spot to heal.

Usually, a moon cactus graft requires a week or two to recover from grafting. I’ll be leaving this for a short family holiday and will update you guys the outcome once I’m back. So excited to show you the outcome. 🥰

In this picture, as you can see, the terracotta pots come in all shapes and sizes. They have from a very small to very large ones.

One thing I’d like to share with everyone. Terracotta pot aids humudity. That means they create humidity around your plants. The porous terracotta material absorbs then releases moisture creating humidity around plants. Amazing right? 😍

MY SOIL MIX

The main benefits of making your own DIY succulent soil mix are that it’s cheaper, and you control the ingredients.

Making your own bulk mix is cheaper than buying a pre-made commercial succulent soil.

Plus, since you control the ingredients, you can modify this succulent soil recipe to get the perfect mix that both you and your plants will love.

Here are the ingridients I use in making my own soil :-

1. Lava Rock
2. Pumice
3. Vermiculite
4. Perlites
5. Osmocote Fertilizer
6. Charcoal
7. Peatemoss

What I do with broken petals?

Just simply place them in a pot and water them. Let them sit for a few weeks and you’ll see that they will start growing flowers on their own 🥰

WATERING DAY!

What I’m doing today is called BOTTOM WATERING. This is a technique of watering plants from the bottom up, which makes their roots get stronger since they’ll always be growing directly down toward the moisture. Additionally, performing this technique allows the water to be evenly distributed and that the moisture in the potting soil will always reach all the way to the bottom of your plants’ roots.

Hello everyone. It’s me, Izah. Today I’m going to share a little bit about Sucti Cactus.

I first fell in love with cactus back in 2014 when I was living with my parents. My dad loves gardening and my mom have too many cacti and succulents she collected over the years. So they both arranged the plants in pots and made them look like mini gardens. When I first saw it, I immediately fell in love.

When I moved to my own house, my mother gave me one of her cactus arrangement. Took care of it for almost 5 years until it grew so big that I have to re-pot the plants to bigger pots.

One day, I saw a friend sell her plants that she grows at home in Shopee and she got amazing response. It gave me the idea to sell my cactus online too. Took some photos and start posting them online. Didnt expect people to buy them and continue to buy them until today. It was quite overwhelming in such a good way.

I started this business during lockdown, so I just use and sell whatever that I have at home, at first. After a while, I finally have a few suppliers and start growing more at home. Even my parents start growing more at home too.

I always have the passion for online business. Started with selling my own preloved clothes in blogs when I was seventeen. Then moved on to women’s clothings, accessories and even men shoes that I ordered from China. I even got the experience getting supplies from Vietnam when I was selling golf attire. Mostly as hobby and my love towards online business. As I am a full-time housewife, I want to have my own income and fill my time with something I love to do.

I am truly blessed with the huge support I received from my husband and family, which made Sucti Cactus now my main income generator. So, what about you? Share with me what is your inspiration and how you start doing what you’re doing now. 💚
