Hoya Electronics Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. recently celebrated "World Smile Day” on Friday 06 October 2023. Taking the opportunity of this "World Smile Day", Management has decided to distribute boxes of Bento to all staff including contract & supporting staffs. This is also an appreciation of their efforts and contributions to HOEM for the past year and a replacement of the annual dinner which is cancelled again this year.

Employees were seen enjoying their bento with contagious grins and positivity all around!

We believe that a smile will make our day and is the best way to connect with one another and create lasting memories.

HOEM organized Hoya Badminton Tournament 2023 on 9th September 2023 at Dewan Haji Ibrahim, Keladi. Two categories were contested in this tournament, the men's team consisting of 4 players per team and the women's double consisting of 2 players in a team. 10 men’s team and 6 women double were registered to compete in this tournament.

Congratulations to team Smashing Blank who was crowned as the Hoya Badminton Tournament 2023 Champion in the men’s team category while in the women double category the champion title went to team Bat Pink. The first runner up and second runner up winner in the men’s team category went to team Brilliant and team Coq Pisang respectively while in the women‘s double category went to team Star and team El Matador.
The tournament prize giving ceremony was concluded by HOEM HRGA Director, Mr. Ismail Bin Ibrahim.

HOEM telah menganjurkan Kejohanan Badminton Hoya 2023 pada 9hb September 2023 di Dewan Haji Ibrahim, Keladi. Dua kategori telah dipertandingkan di dalam kejohanan ini iaitu berpas**an lelaki yang terdiri daripada 4 orang pemain setiap pas**an dan beregu wanita yang terdiri daripada 2 orang pemain dalam satu pas**an. 10 pas**an lelaki dan 6 beregu wanita telah mendaftar untuk bertanding dalam kejohanan ini.

Tahniah kepada pas**an Smashing Blank yang telah dinobatkan sebagai Johan Kejohanan Badminton Hoya 2023 dalam kategori lelaki manakala untuk kategori beregu wanita johan jatuh kepada pas**an Bat Pink. Naib juara dan tempat ketiga bagi kategori berpas**an lelaki masing-masing disandang oleh pas**an Brilliant dan pas**an Coq Pisang manakala bagi kategori beregu wanita dimenangi pas**an Star dan El Matador.
Majlis penyampaian hadiah kejohanan telah disempurnakan oleh Pengarah HRGA HOEM, En Ismail Bin Ibrahim.

KITA Firefighting Competition 2023

The Kulim Industrial Tenants Association (KITA) Firefighting competition held on Saturday, 8 July 2023 at the KHTP Sports Complex attracted more than 100 participants from over 11 companies. The inaugural competition was organized by the Kulim Industrial Tenant Association (KITA) in collaboration with Zone 3 Kulim Kedah Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia.

HOEM sent a team of 9 staff to participate in all categories contested in the tournament. It was a very good exposure for HOEM participants as they were able to sharpen their firefighting skills and gain learning experience and sharing knowledge with other participants in the tournament.

Pertandingan Memadam Kebakaran KITA 2023 (BM Translation)

Pertandingan memadam kebakaran Persatuan Penyewa Industri Kulim (KITA) yang diadakan pada hari Sabtu, 8 Julai 2023 di Kompleks Sukan KHTP telah menarik lebih 100 orang peserta daripada lebih 11 syarikat. Pertandingan yang julung kalinya dianjurkan oleh Persatuan Penyewa Perindustrian Kulim (KITA) dengan kerjasama Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia Zon 3 Kulim Kedah.

HOEM telah menghantar sepas**an 9 kakitangan untuk menyertai dalam semua kategori yang dipertandingkan di kejohanan tersebut. Ia merupakan satu pendedahan yang sangat baik untuk peserta HOEM kerana mereka dapat mempertajamkan kemahiran memadam kebakaran dengan belajar melalui pengalaman dan berkongsi pengetahuan dengan peserta lain dalam kejohanan tersebut.

Factory Tour of HOEM by Students from Clarkson University, Potsdam NY

On 23 May 2023 HOEM played host to a group of students and their Professor from David D. Reh School of Business, Clarkson University, Potsdam NY. The students a mix of Global Supply Chain and Engineering & Management majors, led by Professor William MacKinnon, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Information Systems made a brief stop at HOEM after a tour of HOES the previous week.

The Group was introduced to HOEM, its products and processes that includes a line tour of LSI process and FPD process. The students were very inquisitive about HOEM, their questions were responded well by Representatives from LSI and FPD during the lively Q & A session.

The Vice President of HOYA LSI Division Mr. Masafumi Ishiyama was in HOEM from 20th to 23rd February 2023 in conjunction with the HOYA Corp. Board of Directors visit. It has been quite a long time since the last visit by Mr. Ishiyama which was right before the Covid19 pandemic started.

The LSI Division Management took the opportunity to get Mr. Ishiyama to address LSI Div. staff in a Townhall meeting on his last day in HOEM. Approximately 75 LSI Exempt level employees attended the Townhall meeting, there were many new and young faces among the crowd who for the first time had the opportunity to meet Mr. Ishiyama in person.

Mr. Ishiyama explained the Company’s direction in facing the expected challenges ahead and the 6 months from now is critical. Mr. Ishiyama stressed that not only HOYA, but our competitors will face the same situation and this is the time we have to brace ourselves, but he is confident that HOYA will remain sturdy and we will weather the storm well.

In the blanks segment HOYA is a global supplier to several big industry players and HOYA’s market share in this segment is substantial and to remain so, it is very important to stress and work hard to ensure our number one and two priorities that is Quality and Cost are always at the top of our minds.

The atmosphere of the Townhall meeting was relaxed and calm, many interesting questions from the crowd including some personal ones to Mr. Ishiyama who handled all the questions extremely well.

It is a great honor for HOYA Electronics Malaysia (HOEM) to receive four members of the HOYA Corp. Board of Directors Mr. Shuzo Kaihori, Mr. Hiroaki Yoshihara, Mr. Yasuyuki Abe and Ms. Mika Nishimura who visited HOEM from 21st to 22nd Feb 2023. We were informed that this year BOD members will be visiting various HOYA entities to experience the entity’s business environment firsthand and HOEM was the first entity on their list. Accompanying the four BOD members were Ms.Chie Yajima and Mr. Norikazu Nakamura from HOYA Group IA Secretariat.

During the 2 days visit the agenda prepared for them was smoothly executed without a hitch. BOD members were introduced to HOEM and they were briefed on the LSI and FPD Divisions current situations, they were taken for line tours of the two divisions. HOEM values very much the feedbacks given during their two days visit to HOEM.

At the end of the visit BOD members appreciated the hospitality given to them during their visit to HOEM and commended HOEM for the care taken towards its business and employees. BOD members also thanked the day-to-day efforts by HOEM Management and its employees and their contributions to HOYA Group.

HOEM organized Hoya Fishing Tournament 2023 on 14th January 2023 at Santai Damai Fishing Centre, Sungai Petani. This is the third time HOEM organized such fishing tournament. The previous two fishing tournaments were held in 2018 and 2020. As expected based on previous year’s record, we got overwhelming response from HOEM employees, this time, we managed to attract 73 HOEM anglers to participate with a total of 90 rods registered.

Congratulations to Mohd Syafiq Bin Mohd Nizam who was crowned as the Hoya Fishing Tournament 2023 Champion. He managed to land a 3.29 Kg “Ikan Bawal Emas” (Golden Pomfret) while the First Runner Up went to Mohd Syaifuddin Bin Ahmad who caught a 0.98 Kg “Ikan Angsai” (Red Snapper) and Second Runner Up Mohd Badrol Bin Jaafar caught a 0.97 Kg “Ikan Siakap Putih” (Seabass). Other than the top three prizes, the ‘First Fish Catch’ title went to Abdul Manan Bin Awang who managed to land the first fish “Ikan Angsai” at 10:13 am and the ‘Smallest Fish Catch’ winner was awarded to Mohd Aznizam Bin Ismail who caught an “Ikan Siakap Merah” that weighed 0.75 Kg.

The tournament was officiated by HOEM HRGA Director, Mr. Ismail Bin Ibrahim while prize giving ceremony was concluded by HOEM Managing Director, Mr. John Lieng Bujang.

HOEM telah menganjurkan Kejohanan Memancing Hoya 2023 pada 14 Januari 2023 di Pusat Memancing Santai Damai, Sungai Petani. Ini merupakan kali ketiga HOEM menganjurkan kejohanan memancing seumpama itu. Dua kejohanan memancing sebelum ini telah diadakan pada tahun 2018 dan 2020. Seperti yang dijangkakan berdasarkan rekod tahun sebelumnya, kami mendapat sambutan memberangsangkan daripada warga kerja HOEM, kali ini, kami berjaya menarik 73 kaki pancing HOEM untuk menyertainya dengan jumlah 90 joran berdaftar.

Tahniah kepada Mohd Syafiq Bin Mohd Nizam yang telah dinobatkan sebagai Johan Kejohanan Memancing Hoya 2023. Kejohanan ini telah dirasmikan oleh Pengarah HOEM HRGA, En Ismail Bin Ibrahim manakala majlis penyampaian hadiah telah disempurnakan oleh Pengarah Urusan HOEM, En John Lieng Bujang.
