LATTE means milk

Latte simply means milk in Italian. So latte is not actually a coffee drink. That's also why you call it latte art, milk art. Most people expect a latte or caffe latte to be milkier than a cappuccino.

Caffe latte
A caffe latte is an espresso with milk. In Italy a Caffe is an espresso. Latte is milk. Ideally served with latte art on top and not too much foam.

Differences between a latte and cappuccino

They are very different drinks though as the latte is creamier, with espresso and steamed milk mixed together to create a more subtle taste. A cappuccino on the other hand is much stronger with equal parts steamed and foamed milk.

Short cut means
Latte is espresso with more steamed milk and lesser foam

Cappuccino is more espresso with lesser steamed milk with more foam
