We are excited to be part of the SBTi & Climate Symposium 2024, themed "From Climate Pledges to Action” which was held at Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur today. More than 350 corporate leaders, business owners, Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) experts and practitioners gathered under one roof to understand, discuss, and develop strategies for various stakeholders on taking ambitious climate action.

One of key highlights of the SBTi & Climate Symposium 2024 was the launch of the simplified climate assessment tool developed in collaboration with UN Global Compact Network Malaysia and Brunei (UNGCNMYB) for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which is named PROGRESS. The launch was officiated by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, YB Nik Nazmi Bin Nik Ahmad. PROGRESS is part of our Sustainability Impact Programme (SIP) initiative that accelerates the adoption of ESG among SMEs.

Together on stage were Dr. Aaron Sum, our Group Chief Strategy, Marketing & Business Development Officer, Datuk Chang Khim Wah, President & CEO of EcoWorld Malaysia, Mr. Faroze Nadar, UNGCMYB Executive Director, Ms. Shanta Helena Dwarkasing, Head of Programmes, Forward Faster initiative, UNGCMYB and Mr. Mohamad Irwan Aman, General Manager of Sustainability from Sarawak Energy Berhad during the launch.

Our Head of Strategic Partnerships & Innovation, Roy Heong also shed lights on how SIP helps SMEs improve their business competitiveness and resilience by offering a holistic sustainability solutions with financing assistance in this symposium. Beyond just providing an overview of our Sustainability Impact Programme (SIP) in the symposium, we also co-hosted a climate action workshop with UNGCMYB to help business owners better understand how they can transition to more sustainable business models.
