Today 8/6/24, we welcome visit from Sarawak Furniture Industries Association (SFIA) and Penang Furniture & Timber Industries Association(PFTIA) . We are humbled to share our challenges, opportunities and directions in the furniture trades , especially in using reclaimed timber .

Another project of bungalow at Nibong tebal , a royal customer of Chengal house , for almost 20 years , build his dream home and continues to believe in us , using reclaimed timber .

Chengal wood , known for its super durability, aged & oxidation takes effect , giving a very unique texture & wood grain , that is created through time lapse . We capture this special optical effect and display it in simple form of design , yet the most elegant taste . Precious old timber has just arrived at Chengal house from Johor .

Progressive works of dismantling an old warehouse , salvaging the precious materials . Reuse and repurpose it in order to give a new life again . Currently , purlin timbers were salvaged , mainly a type hardwood called Kempas, similar to railway sleeper wood . Known for its exotic grain , durability & high bending strength , it is perfect to use again for structure use .

Revisit Indonesian biggest city of producing high quality rattan furniture , Cirebon , Java . Nearly 30 years to recall the timing.

Just salvaged 2 quarter set of arm chair and a centre table belonging to a temple . This is republican era piece but very intricate & fine carving .

This is the merchant grade o***m bed , made by Swanci wood (Blackwood ) , known for its durability, hardness , and fine wood grain. It is also one of the rare & most expensive wood in China , and around the world . Carved in its simplicity and Cantonese style .

Today we received guest from Woodwiser , a world leading producer of sawmill from USA. We thank Daniel Wong & his college from Poland , taking time to do video shooting for promotion of their sawmill machine and reclaimed wood industry . Malaysian reclaimed wood has set another milestone to tape to world platform , reaching out there billions of people . A blessing moment to share and awaiting positive response soon .

We just received a fresh batch of history today—these 4”x4”x12ft Chengal wood pieces are not just timber; they're seasoned storytellers. Salvaged from TNB high tension cable towers, they've served as Cross Arms for over half a century. Phased out for modern materials, we're excited to breathe new life into each beam. Known for its incredible outdoor durability, we're crafting a future where these wooden treasures continue to stand the test of time. Stay tuned as we transform legacy into longevity.

Custom made Chinese wood plague with family clan “Tan” (陳). Carved from a single piece of old Teakwood plank , salvaged from Java . Background carving is white cloud with bats symbolise abundance of prosperity & luck . Chinese calligraphy is carefully carved by a senior artisan, finished by high quality gold paint . calligraphy

Old main door , from a peranakan Family house at Yangon , Mymmar . It is believed to be carved locally by Chinese artisan using local teakwood . Carving is intricately fine while colourful patina was layered over gold glided panel in its original status .
