Malaysian Genomics Explores R&D Collaboration with SIRIM'

Malaysian Genomics is pleased to announce a strategic cooperation with SIRIM Berhad (SIRIM), to explore the commercialisation of joint research and development (R&D) projects in the medical and biotechnology fields.

Under the strategic cooperation, both parties will evaluate the potential commercial value of a range of genomics-driven biotechnology R&D projects. These include developing biofuels and biopharmaceuticals, companion diagnostic tests for cancer treatment, and bioactive cosmeceuticals.

'Malaysian Genomics Inks Partnerships to Market Genetic Screening Services in UAE.'

Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Bhd has entered into a strategic collaboration with several UAE-based companies to market and distribute the group's Dtect range of genetic screening services in the country.

It said its partners in the agreement were American Spine Center (ASC), Balsam Health Services, Wellness by Design FZ LLC and IAC International LLC.

Under the agreement, Malaysian Genomics, ASC, Balsam and Wellness by Design will explore common strategies for joint or allied projects that translate to innovative healthcare tools or solutions.

Group is collaborating with Thai partners to supply its products and services

Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Berhad, a leading genomics and biopharmaceutical specialist, has announced a series of collaborations to grow its customer base in Thailand as well as exploring opportunities for research and development (R&D) of new products and services.

The Group signed a supply and collaboration agreement with Acquest Healthcare Stem Cell Research and Development to produce CAR T-cells for supply to Acquest's customers.

The Group also signed a supply and collaboration agreement with Salus Holdings to supply biopharmaceutical and genomics products and services to Salus' customers.

Finally, the Group signed a Letter of Intent with Marine Group and Salus on collaborative research in the use of genetic screening tests and formulated cosmetic products containing certain cell therapy ingredients on the regeneration of skin and hair of patients.

Leading genomics and biopharmaceutical specialist Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Berhad has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the Faculty of Science and Natural Resources, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Rinani Genotec Sdn Bhd (Genotec) to collaborate on research and development (R&D) in genetics, and regenerative and alternative medicines.

Under the LOI, MGRC, which owns a high-throughput sequencing lab, advanced microarray facility, and new state-of-the-art cell processing lab, as well as Genotec, which specialises in biomedical treatments using stem cells, will assist in strengthening the teaching and research activities of the undergraduate programme at UMS' Faculty of Science and Natural Resources.

Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Berhad, a leading genomics and biopharmaceutical specialist, reported revenue of RM6.33 million for the fourth quarter ended 30 June 2022 (4Q 2022).

The Group recorded a profit before tax (PBT) of RM2.97 million for the quarter due to higher profit margin from the biopharmaceutical business as well as efficient cost monitoring.

MGRC Inks MOU to Offer Products and Services in MENA Region.

Genomics and biopharmaceutical specialist Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Bhd (MGRC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore opportunities for the distribution of biopharmaceutical and genomics products and services with Riyadh-based Ajlan & Bros Medical Company.

The parties will explore the feasibility of Ajlan becoming a marketing and distribution representative for MGRC for genetic screening tests, mesenchymal stem cell and exosome products. It said Ajlan will also identify commercial research and development (R&D) opportunities for genome sequencing and analysis in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for areas such as agriculture, aquaculture, plantations, healthcare and industrial biotechnology.

'MGRC names former MOH sec-gen as chairman'

Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Bhd (MGRC) has appointed Datuk Seri Dr Chen Chaw Min as its independent non-executive chairman.

In a filing with Bursa on Friday (July 15), the company said the appointment is effective immediately.

He was the secretary-general of the Ministry of Health (MOH) from July 2015 until his retirement and also served the Ministry of Finance (M*F) in various capacities from 1990 until 2014.

Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Bhd (MGRC) has entered into a strategic partnership with United Doctors Hospital (UDH) for collaboration in genomics and cell therapies.

Under the partnership, which is valid for three years, MGRC and UDH will take the necessary steps to encourage and promote cooperation in the sales and marketing of genetic screening tests and cell therapy products, collaboration in research and development (R&D), and other areas of cooperation in genomics and cell therapies to be mutually decided by both parties.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Bhd (MGRC) has been uplifted from being classified as an affected listed corporation effective today.

This follows the decision by Bursa Malaysia to grant MGRC a waiver in submitting a regularisation plan after being classified as an affected listed corporation pursuant to Rule 8.03A of the listing requirements.

"Our diversification into biopharmaceutical services, in particular the distribution of immunotherapy and cell therapies, has supported the financial performance of the group," said MGRC executive director Azri Azerai in a statement.

Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Bhd’s (MGRC) net profit surged almost 10-fold to RM1.96mil in the third quarter ended March 31 from RM200,000 a year earlier.

The higher profit was led by a higher margin generated by the distribution of immunotherapy and cell therapies.

The genomics and biopharmaceutical specialist saw its revenue grow 212% to RM5.08mil against RM1.63mil a year ago, due to the growth of its distribution of immunotherapy and cell therapies.
