Christmas message from the women of the Nauru Police Force. The Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Secretariat, founded 1970, works with the 21 member states in the region to build safer and more secure communities by improving Policing. Under this structure sits the Women’s Advisory Network (WAN) which supports the advancement of gender equity in Pacific Police services. To celebrate Christmas this year, the WAN requested each PICP member state to contribute a short video message in their mother tongue, explaining what Christmas means to them. The invitation came from PICP Executive Coordinator Loretta Hunt-Tevaga, who rightly pointed out that “we get so caught up in everyday life and we forget just to take time out to reflect and celebrate and before we know it, it’s Christmas which is an important time of the year when we get to celebrate with our families. But I find as women we are rushing around doing everything and don’t really get the chance to enjoy the moment completely.” Led by Deputy Police Commissioner Kalinda Blake, Nauru Police Force female Officers decided that the new Boe Poe deck ‘Dedenaro Place’ was a beautiful spot to showcase the various NPF uniforms and our island home for our Christmas message, where the birth of Jesus Christ, families coming together and gift-giving and delicious food were the top-three “what Christmas means to me” messages. As the festive season approaches, may we encourage you to reflect too on the meaning of Christmas, and may we wish you a very blessed, safex3, peaceful and happy Christmas and New Year from all at Nauru Police Force. ___
