On Thursday 13 June 2024, members of the Nauru Police Force (NPF) Executive team meet with Nauru Australia Policing Partnership (NAPP) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to discuss funding priorities for the 2024/2025 Financial Year. Commissioner Notte and his senior executive energetically discussed their portfolio requirements over the coming 12 months. These priorities were focussed and linked in to Nauru's National Sustainable Development Strategy 2019-2030, the NPF Strategic Plan and the NAPP program design. While the key priorities identified in the workshop are yet to be fully confirmed, common training needs across all areas of the NPF included basic investigations, leadership and management, offender interviews, command and control and Train the Trainer training. Funding needs also identified infrastructure refurbishments and repairs, along with ICT and technology support.

AFP a/Commander Pacific, Elias Petropoulos travelled to Nauru to attend the workshop. “It was great to bring the NPF Senior Executive together and chart the NAPP 2024/25 deliverables with a strategic focus through to 2028. It was clear that after two decades of trust, capability training, uplift, and nurturing that the AFP/NPF strong relationship has built a foundation for success.”

The next steps will firm up the priority focuses and explore pacific wide funding support through localised NAPP funding, the Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI) and the AFP Pacific Policing Partnership Program (AP4)
