Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor will experience water supply disruption from June 5 for Air Selangor to carry out maintenance and replacement works.

The scheduled temporary water supply disruption will start from 9am June 5, (Wednesday).

Water supply will be gradually restored starting at 3am on Thursday (June 6). Water supply in 20% of the affected areas will be restored by 3pm on Thursday (June 6) and 90% by 3pm on June 7, with full restoration to all areas by midnight.

Ingredients

Part 1
4 rose onions, thinly sliced
3 cloves of garlic, cut into two or three

Part 2
Half a carrot, shaved
5 slices of zucchini
1½ tomato, finely diced
1 Bangla cili hijau, finely cut
1 bunch of coriander, shredded

Part 3
Fresh daun kesum (Thai basil)

Method

Got the kakak to tumis (sauté) Part 1 ingredients until the garlic has slightly blsckened. Then add Part 2, followed by rice. The diced tomato with complete dissolve and disappear, adding moisture to your fried rice.

Once done, I mixed up everything in a steel bowl with Part 3.

The commentary by our guest socio-political commentator Saudara Imraz Ikhbal assumes that they were prayer mats (sejadah):

“this is wrt to sejadah

if floor mats to wipe your feet [door mats], then that will be kurang ajar and I hope authorities take action,” writes Imraz.

However, if they were door mats, that’s a totally different matter. The manufacturers — while they may not be willfully maliciois — they certainly lack common sense…

Kuala Lumpur: A 14-year-old girl lost her parents instantly after being the sole survivor rescued by the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in a two-storey house fire on Jalan SS21/18, Damansara Utama, Selangor early this morning.

Selangor JBPM Assistant Director of Operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the victims who died in the fire were identified as Kang Tsi Yam, 61, and his wife, Leong Chen Mun, 55..

He said they received an emergency call regarding the fire at the residence at 5.13 am.

“A total of four fire engines with 10 firefighters from the Damansara and Petaling Jaya Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the scene.

“An estimated 70 per cent of the house was destroyed, and the fire was found to have occurred in the main bedroom on the upper floor of the residence and the kitchen area on the ground floor,” he said in a statement.
He said fire investigation officers arrived at the scene at 6.30 am, and assistance from K9 tracking dogs was requested to assist in the investigation.

“The bodies of both victims were sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem, and the fire department is currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire,” he said.

LRT3 on track to be completed by March 2025, says RHB Research

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 12): RHB Research maintained its "buy" call on Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) with a 55 sen target price (TP), on the premise of the timely delivery of the Light Rail Transit (LRT3) project.

“We visited the LRT3 depot at Johan Setia (Klang) and came away feeling upbeat on the project. While it is nearing completion, Malaysian Resources Corp’s track record in LRT3, in addition to other rail projects such as the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) 2, may enable it to clinch opportunities from upcoming rail related projects — Penang LRT and MRT3,” said the research house in a note today (Oct.12).

As of end 3Q2023, line-wide progress of the LRT3 construction stood at 86.5%, estimated for completion by March 2025.

“Therefore, we estimate the 13.5% balance of works for the LRT3 or RM1.6 billion of billings (9.8% of orderbook) and an RM48 million profit after tax (PAT) (assuming a 3% net margin) to be recognised by MRCB over 3Q2023 until 1Q2025,” said RHB Research.

Meanwhile, a near-term re-rating catalyst would be securing flood mitigation projects, particularly in Selangor, which the group was pre-qualified for, worth RM500 million.

“We also favour the stock for its strong orderbook-to-revenue cover ratio of more than five times and a sizeable land bank of 1,153 acres (RM33 billion gross development value) — providing ample supply of land for future projects," it said.

The stock is trading at a 0.45 time FY2024F P/BV (price-to-book value), below -2SD (standard deviation) from the KL Construction Index’s five-year mean P/BV.

MRCB, in a previous joint venture (JV) with George Kent (GK), was initially appointed as project delivery partner (PDP) by Prasarana for the 37-kllometre LRT3 in September 2015, with an initial budget of RM9 billion (excluding land acquisition costs) at that time.

This RM9 billion amount did not include other costs such as PDP fees (6%), other consultant fees, operational and overhead costs, as well as interest payments during construction, which resulted in a total cost of RM31.7 billion.

However, in July 2018, the LRT3 project cost was reduced by about 47% to RM16.6 billion. Post cost reduction, the PDP model was restructured to a fixed price contract in November 2018 — MRCB-GK JV as a turnkey contractor — worth RM11.9 billion.

Later in September 2021, MRCB took over GK’s 50% stake in the JV company formed to construct LRT3 for RM53 million — effectively recognising 100% of the project from then onwards. The LRT3 project was circa 60% completed, meaning that MRCB had RM4.7 billion of billings to recognise until completion.

MRCB shares settled two sen or 4.35% higher at 48 sen at noon break on Thursday, translating into a market capitalisation of RM2.14 billion.

Year-to-date, the counter has gained some 71%.

The lunch will be a vegan pot luck nasi ulam random - just bring cut up fruits and vegetables ready to be mixed with rice which we’ll buy from the THAI HOUSE restoran for only RM2.50, including sup kosong and sambal.

Unfortunately, the sup kosong is not vegan as its base is beef stock. Their sambal is not vegan either as it contains Thai fish sauce and belacan. I taught participants how to make their own vegan sambal at the last masterclass - just use a little taucu halus and JB sauce instead of belacan and fish sauce. The next best way is as smoothie or gazpacho (a cold soup of Spanish Andalusian origins that literally translates at ‘liquid salad’. I’ve made a playlist of GAZPACHO & OKROSHKA recipes here:

I discovered OKROSHKA while researching gazpacho recipes. Its another cold soup, of Russian origins. As you can see from the recipes, there are so many varieties with different selection of ingredients. There is really no hard and fast rules.

With smoothies and juices, you can reduce the sugar content by using 80% vegetables and 20% fruits as the flavouring. You can also use herbs and spices not only as flavouring but to boost the nutrient diversity. Soft fruit (eg pitaya, kiwifruit and sapodilla (ciku) and berries are best made into smoothies and not juiced.

I’ll explain to you the difference between juices made with a slow juicer (better because less oxidation and retains soluble fibre) and centrifugal juicer (not so good because of cavitation, oxidation and no fibre). Also, why commercial juices are a waste of money.

Think of juices and smoothies as an alternative way of taking multivitamin and mineral supplements.

Lastly, I’ll explain plant-based milks, the health issues associated with dairy and why I develop my own plant-based milk powder. What ingredients I use and how you can easily make your own as the fraction of the price of what is sold commercially and pharmacies.
