30 Oil Palm Employees Earn Plantation Management Cert
A total of 30 employees of oil palm companies in the central region graduated with certificates in plantation management (CPM) at the Methodist Pilley Institute here today.
The three-month intensive programme was conducted by MPI as the training provider, in collaboration with Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) Malaysia, with the support of the Sarawak Oil Palm Plantation Owners Association (SOPPOA), and sponsored by the Sarawak Business Federation (SBF).
Present to hand over the certificates was ISP Malaysia chairman, Datuk Daud Amatzin.
PI principal, Hii King Kai thanked the Sarawak government, particularly, SBF Recovery BizFunds for sponsoring the programme.

The Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP), the Malaysian-founded organisation responsible for the promotion of industry best practices and sustainability initiatives within the plantation sector, will be launching its regional chapter for Africa on the 24th of May this year. A milestone event that will be taking place at the Abuja Continental Hotel in Nigeria, the launch aligns with the ISPs active initiatives to bring revolutionary changes to the African agricultural sector.
Aiming to replicate some of the success that has been experienced by nations such as Malaysia and Indonesia over the past few decades, the ISP and its representatives strongly believe that Africa is due to revisit its agro-industry practices and focus on improving key areas such as technology adoption and capacity building.
The purpose of the launch is to introduce ISP's vision, mission and goals to the plantation industry at large, as well as to foster networking opportunities among agricultural experts, industry stakeholders, policy makers and researchers, in order to support efforts at improving the conditions within the plantation sector.
The ISP hopes to use the occasion to discuss key challenges and opportunities within the African Agricultural Sector as well as well as to emphasize the importance of sustainable and innovative agricultural practices. The launch will also allow the ISP to more clearly highlight its role in promoting knowledge exchange and capacity building among planters across Africa

On 4th May 2024, the ISP Lower Perak branch led by Mr. R. Gopala Krishnan, successfully held their AGM at Nalfin Planting Material Sdn. Bhd. in Kuala Perak Estate with 40 participants.
The program has included mini-seminars by Tanalink Sdn. Bhd., Engineering Machinery Sdn. Bhd., and TesAsia Corporation Sdn. Bhd.

On 3rd May 2024, the ISP West Pahang branch led by Encik Mohd Sahir Yaacub, held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Camp ABC, Janda Baik, Bentong, Pahang. The Chairman of ISP, Datuk Daud Amatzin, and the Vice-chairman, Tn. Hj. Fadzil, are present in the meeting. There are talks by Agricultural Chemicals (M) Sdn Bhd and ICP Agro Solutions Sdn Bhd.
On 4 - 5 May, 2024, the branch organized a camping program. All the members enjoyed the day.
