SEJARAH NASI DAGANG TERENGGANU

Nasi Dagang telah disenaraikan sebagai salah satu makanan warisan Malaysia oleh Jabatan Warisan Negara. Kalau ke negeri pantai timur, wajib memakan Nasi Dagang. Kiranya signature meals lah.

Tahukah anda semua asal usul Nasi Dagang?
Sebenarnya terdapat 3 versi, tapi kita focus pada Nasi Dagang Terengganu.

Bersumberkan dari cerita nenek moyang yang diturunkan dari generasi ke generasi, Nasi Dagang ni dicipta secara tidak sengaja oleh orang Bugis yang datang berdagang ke Terengganu. Nak dibuatkanlah cerita plak, Nasi Dagang ni dicipta masa Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Zaman dulu-dulu kira buat potluck la untuk makan lepas selesai menunaikan solat sunat Aidilfitri. Selain daripada itu, sudah menjadi kebiasaan untuk rakyat mempersembahkan makanan yang mereka masak ke istana sempena sambutan Hari Raya.

Since orang Bugis yang datang untuk berdagang tu masih ada di Terengganu, diaorang pun plan nak join masak and present kat Sultan. Nak buatkan cerita, kira long story short lah, anak bulan keluar awal, know know, esok nak raya. Lepas tu, Sultan p**ak nak turun padang, katanya nak check it out apa orang orang Bugis ni nak masak. Kabut la orang orang Bugis tu. Nak masak nasi impit makan dengan kuah ikan aya (Ikan Tongkol), tapi entah siapa p**ak gelabah, dia tuangnya santan lebih masa nak kukus beras tu.

Tingtong, cak, Sultan sampai. “Masak ape tuuuu?”, “Burasak” jawab orang Bugis. Kot la dia cakap camtu. Dalam dialek pantai timur, burasak tu maksudnya berasap. Sebab bau wap dan aroma santan yang tengah kukus menusuk ke lubang hidung Sultan, lalu Sultan bertitah, “Beta ingin merasa sedikit juadah yang orang-orang kamu sediakan”.

Macam peserta Masterchef tunggu juri juri rasa makanan diaorang, konfem berdebar. Sekali Sultan senyum dan bertitah, “Beta mahu, NASI ORANG DAGANG ini dipersembahkan kepada Beta untuk santapan pagi esok”. Fuh, kalau Mek Ya pun lega dengar orang kata onz, apatah lagi Sultan Terengganu cakap onz sangat Nasi Dagang tu pada orang yang salah masak tu. Maka terciptalah Nasi Dagang...

Kelazatan nasi orang dagang tersebar luas. Nasi Dagang dipersembahkan sebagai makanan tradisional orang-orang pantai timur terutama sekali ketika menjelang perayaan Aidilfitri. Kini, tak perlu tunggu nak raya baru boleh merasa. Mek Ya ada menyediakan Nasi Dagang Terengganu pada setiap hari Sabtu!
