Here is my attempt at a composition of the event.
Right when the "diamond ring" appeared the clouds rolled in. So this was what I managed to snagg.
Another. This oneshows the stars that popped out during totality!
I keep finding more on my card...!
Sorry, I know everyone is being flooded by eclipse photos. This was my first time every photographing an eclipse. I gotta say it was surreal! We had 3:57 seconds of totality. This is one of my favorite shots. Apparently what looks like a solar flare is really something called "Baily's beads."It is light refracted by the sun going through the terrain of the moon!

Remembering Lost Images: A Personal Journey
Many years ago, I used to back up my images on CDs and DVDs for safekeeping. However, somewhere between then and now, my onsite backup crashed, and I lost many images from 2006. Recently, a friend stumbled upon a set of DVDs containing images from that year. Long story short, I've since recovered a few images from my past.
This photo captures a moment of a Gujjar woman making salt tea, but from a different angle than the one I posted yesterday. Even without the dramatic beam of light, I prefer this lost image. Why? Because it tells a better story. There's movement, direction. It's less a portrait and more a narrative. We see the woman ladling the chai, more detail in the room. We see all the old aluminum pots with the details of the mud on the clay stove. In many ways, the light is even more dramatic as it seems to spotlight her.
Stay tuned for more stories like this and details about our upcoming 2024 Kashmir & Ladakh photo tour.

Aged & Ore Bottle Flight - Elevating Whisky Travel
https://agedandore.com/
If you're like me and appreciate the finer things in life, traveling with a bottle of single-malt whisky is a must. But, let's face it, traveling with whisky can be a bit of a challenge. Stainless steel flasks are a common go-to, but they don't always preserve the taste of your favorite spirit. Plastic bottles? Well, they're not exactly ideal either. Glass bottles, the preferred choice for whisky, come with their own set of risks in your luggage. That's where Aged & Ore comes in.
I recently had the chance to test out their 750ml Travel Decanter, along with their Bottle Flight, on a journey through India and Thailand. Today, let's focus on the Bottle Flight.
The Aged & Ore Bottle Flight - Elevate Your Whisky Experience on the Go
The Aged & Ore Bottle Flight is a premium set of four custom silicone-wrapped glass bottles, designed for the whisky aficionado on the move. Here's what makes it stand out:
3oz Max Capacity Per Bottle: These bottles are not only compact but also TSA travel compliant, ensuring a hassle-free journey through airport security.
Protective Travel Case: The custom EVA travel case is a snug fit for your small bag, keeping your bottles safe and sound during your travels.
Measurement Indicators: Each bottle comes with measurement indicators, so you always know how much you're pouring.
Silicone Sleeves: The silicone sleeves add both aesthetics and an extra layer of protection to your precious cargo.
Labeling Window: No more guessing what's inside each bottle. The labeling window helps you easily identify your spirits.
Glass Marker Included: A thoughtful addition that allows you to label your bottles, ensuring you never mix up your whisky selections.
Wide Mouth for Easy Filling: Filling these bottles is a breeze, making your pre-travel preparations stress-free.
Cigar Storage: If you enjoy ci**rs, you can store two ci**rs vertically alongside your whiskies.
A Seamless Travel Companion
I had reservations about carrying what amounted to 400ml of whisky in my hand luggage. I expected questions, maybe even a showdown at airport security. Surprisingly, it never happened, except for one minor hiccup at Hyderabad Airport.
The security officer was understandably curious when he saw the bottles. He asked what was inside, and I nervously replied, "Liquid to drink." He then asked, "Alcohol?" I nodded, and he examined the measurements. The only issue was that the measurements were marked in ounces, not milliliters. It's worth suggesting that Aged & Ore include both ounces and milliliters on the glass for future batches.
Apart from that, I breezed through multiple screenings in various airports, from Austin to Srinagar. In fact, my flight attendant on an Indian Airlines flight was so impressed by my whisky flight that she brought me a glass from first class for a proper photo shoot!
A Compact Addition to Your Travels
https://agedandore.com/products/bottle-flight
The Aged & Ore Bottle Flight is incredibly compact, fitting easily into my camera bag and even the seatback pocket in front of me. This allowed me to enjoy different whiskies throughout my flight. The glass marker included helped me label each bottle, ensuring I never mixed up my favorites.
At just $38, this product is an excellent addition to my travels. It allows me to share up to four different whisky samples with friends and colleagues from the comfort of my seat. And if you're a cigar enthusiast, you can even stash a couple of ci**rs alongside your cherished whiskies.
In conclusion, the Bottle Flight from Aged & Ore is a delightful addition to any whisky lover's travel gear. Elevate your whisky experience on the go with this compact and stylish solution.
Our tour is officially over! While hanging out with the remaining participants Judith Placht, Vincent Dirckx and Blair Kangley we ran across this amazing face. We met this lovely tailor in the back streets of Srinagar, Kashmir. I shot and edited this on my iPhone 13 ProMax. Sometimes I wonder why I shoot a professional camera at all when I can get photos like this on a phone!
It was so good to see our old friend the Honey Lady.
It’s so great to be back in the Valley of Kashmir. One of the first things we did was visit our old friend the “Honey Lady”. “ “Happy mind, happy life!”
Yesterday we visited the Brokpa people of the twin villages of Dah Hanu. The people related to the people of Gilgit in Pakistan wear flowered hats and are said to be the original A***n people. According to popular belief, the Brokpas were part of the army of Alexander the Great and came to the region over two thousand years ago. join us next year!
