FREE charging Stations - South Korea focused on Citizen-Centric Smart Cities.
Ketika duduk airport, mereka menyediakan tiang charging station dimerata tempat.
Kalau naik bas awam mereka pun memang disediakan charging port sementara duduk dalam bas.
Nampak mudah tetapi amat memberi keselesaan orang awam dan tourists.
Begitu lah cara Smart City sebenarnya.
Dimanakah kita?🤔

When a company claims their software is AI-powered or AI-based, it’s important to ask specific questions to VERIFY these claims.
Here are some key questions:
What type of AI technologies are being used?
Ask whether they are using machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, deep learning, etc.
What specific AI models or algorithms does the software use?
Request details on the algorithms or models employed, such as neural networks, decision trees, support vector machines, or proprietary models.
How is the AI trained, and what data is used for training?
Inquire about the size, quality, and sources of the training data, and whether it’s proprietary or publicly available data.
How does the AI component function within the software?
Ask how the AI works behind the scenes. Is it automating tasks, making predictions, providing recommendations, or performing data analysis?
What role does AI play compared to traditional software features?
Understand how much of the software’s functionality is driven by AI versus standard programming.
Can you provide examples or case studies demonstrating the AI’s effectiveness?
Request concrete examples or case studies showing how the AI has been successfully applied.
How does the AI handle edge cases or uncertainties?
Determine how the AI copes with unusual or unexpected situations. Does it fail gracefully or require human intervention?
Is the AI model continuously updated, and if so, how?
Ask whether the AI learns over time or if updates are made through manual retraining of the model.
What measures are in place to ensure the AI’s accuracy and reliability?
Investigate the processes for validating and testing the AI’s output to ensure it remains accurate and reliable.
How transparent is the AI decision-making process?
Ask if the AI’s decisions or predictions can be explained or if the system is a "black box."
What ethical considerations have been taken into account?
Check if the company has addressed potential biases in their AI model and how they ensure fair and ethical use.
What are the limitations of the AI within the software?
Understand any known limitations or weaknesses in the AI’s capabilities.
These questions can help assess whether the company’s claims about their AI are substantiated and whether the AI truly adds value to the software.
SMART CITIES The Funding Dilemma: A Major Roadblock (Full story will be in my upcoming LinkedIn article)
But perhaps the biggest killer of all is funding—or rather, the lack thereof. “How can we afford this?” is a question I hear all too often. The reality is that many local councils simply don’t have the budget to implement Smart City solutions. And when they do seek funding, they often turn to solutions providers with an unreasonable expectation: a 100% Private Finance Initiative (PFI). “We need you to front all the costs,” they say, “and maybe, just maybe, you’ll see some return on your investment down the line.”
The Reality of Local Council Services
But not all local council services are meant to be money-generating. In fact, most of them aren’t. The real value of these services lies in cost savings, operational efficiency, and improved quality of life for citizens. But try explaining that to someone who’s holding the purse strings and looking for immediate financial returns. It’s a tough sell, to say the least.
Greenfield vs. Brownfield Cities: Different Challenges
I’ve also learned that not all cities are created equal when it comes to Smart Cities. Greenfield cities—newly built from the ground up—have a different set of challenges compared to brownfield cities, which are older and already developed. The pain points are different, and so is the decision-making process. What works for one city might not work for another, and that makes scaling Smart City solutions a daunting task.
The Frustration of Trials
And then there’s the issue of trials. “Let’s start with a proof of concept,” they say. But all too often, these trials go nowhere. They don’t lead to commercial agreements or full-scale deployments. Instead, they fizzle out, leaving everyone involved feeling frustrated and disillusioned.
The Reality of Smart Cities in Malaysia
So the next time you hear someone touting the number of Smart Cities launched in Malaysia, take it with a grain of salt. Many of these so-called Smart Cities are little more than proof-of-concept projects—limited trials that never see the light of day beyond the initial launch.

Mereka tak perlu bangunkan Platform IoT mereka sendiri.

Kisah disebalik Favoriot - Bahagian V
Kini Favoriot IoT platform ditawarkan dalam dua model - cloud based dan enterprise based.
Enterprise based amat sesuai untuk System Integrator.
Cerita dibelakang tabir Favoriot IoT Platform - Bahagian IV

Your IoT Journey
My personal journey in IoT started in 2001 i.e. 2 years after Kevin Ashton (The Father of IoT) coined the term Internet of Things in 1999. I was in one of the first mobile telco in Malaysia launched a service called “Ring-a-Coke” - the ability to buy a coke from a vending machine by just calling to a special number posted at the machine.
But actually, my journey towards the IoT tech world begin as early in the1960s. But did you know that some us have lived in this era since 50 years ago? I have... Really? Well .. not exactly... but maybe some us have watched this cartoon series that unfortunately lasts for 24 episodes Remember the drone, video conference, smartwatch, robotics, telehealthcare and 3D printing of foods.
I am amazed how we could have imagined some technology that now exists today. And that was 50 years ago where it’s practically impossible to own or use anyone of them.
I am inspired by my late father. I still remember the nights that he always tinkered around at the back of our house repairing TV. I will follow him to the TV shops where he will his hands on the TV circuit diagram. Why he inspired me because he is just a normal clerk working in one of the government department. He must have learned electronics during his spare time.
