WARNING FOR THOSE TRAVELLING FROM/THRU KLIA, MALAYSIA (KUL)

Just over the last two weeks, on two separate occasions I've had family coming over from Malaysia to Perth. Sadly, both cases have had their baggage tampered with and items stolen from the bags. Its highly improbable this would have happened in Perth Airport due the time factor. The only logical assumption is that it had to have taken place within KLIA.

I am amazed at how this can happen with airport security & CCTV operations in place. My suspicion is that its likely the collaborative work of a number individuals across departments.

INCIDENT ONE - 12 SEPT 14 :
Image shows how upon retrieval of baggage at Perth Airport, the bag zip was found to be partially undone, despite the zip locks being still in place. The arrangement of baggage contents were clearly disturbed & jewellery & cash were found to be missing. No doubt duty of care lies with KLIA management, but sadly Malaysia Airlines, when advised of this, washed their hands off all responsibility and action.

INCIDENT TWO - 27 SEPT 14 :
As a precautionary measure, the bag was professionally cling wrapped at KLIA by the service providers. However upon retrieval of baggage at Perth Airport, the plastic cling wrap was completely MISSING. The bag zip showed evidence of tampering, despite locks being intact & the zip of the bag's extender portion was found to be undone.
The bag did not contain anything of value, but oddly enough a bag of peanuts was found to be missing. Here too, Malaysia Airlines was the carrier.

Oh dear!

gizmo.do If Boeing was looking to 2014 as a fresh start for their constantly malfunctioning Dreamliner, that particular dream is almost certainly crushed by now.
