Highlights of three days free classes sessions at Ananda Bliss Studio, Sungai Pelek, Sepang. ๐ป๐ผ๐ถ๐๏ธ๐
*History of Carnatic Violin* ๐ป
According to one popular account, the violin was introduced into Carnatic music by Baluswami Diksh*tar (1786โ1858), the younger brother of Muthuswami Diksh*tar. He encountered the instrument being played by British bands in colonial Madras, and decided to learn it. The music was mostly Irish and Scottish fiddling, rather than Western classical music. After three years of lessons, he adapted the violin to Carnatic music. It is believed that Muthuswami Diksh*tar composed Nottuswara Songs to aid his brother master the plain notes on the violin.
November 2021 Violin Class Project - Nottuswaram Songs by Student Jai Sainath, Student Advik and Student Smitha. ๐ป๐ผ
Nottuswaram songs combines the western musical concept of a โNoteโ along with the word โSwaraโ an idea in Indian classical music closely associated with western musical notes. Nottuswara are a set of 39 compositions by Muttuswami Diksh*tar set to Raga Shankarabharana which corresponds to the major scales of Western Music.
