IKEA, IOM Partner for Migrant Inclusion

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and IKEA Supply AG are joining forces for the first time in a global partnership to enhance the lives and rights of migrant workers across IKEA's supply chain.

Over the next three years, this collaboration will build on a decade of successful projects, ensuring fair treatment and opportunities for migrant workers while also contributing to sustainable development.

Christina Niemela Ström, Head of Sustainability at IKEA Supply, emphasizes the importance of protecting migrant workers' rights in the supply chain and sees this partnership as a significant step forward.

The focus of the partnership will be on ethical recruitment, good working conditions, and providing avenues for migrant workers to address any issues they encounter. IOM will leverage its expertise in responsible business practices to assist IKEA in improving conditions for migrant workers globally.

Elizabeth Warn, Global Head of Labour Mobility at IOM, underscores the importance of protecting migrant rights for economic growth and sustainable development.
Previously, IKEA and IOM collaborated on projects in Southeast Asia, leading to the development of IKEA's Responsible Recruitment Guidelines. This new partnership aims to strengthen inclusion and respect for human and labor rights of migrant workers across global supply chains.

Azaliah Mapombere, Global Human Rights and Social Impact Lead at IKEA Supply, highlights the partnership's focus on securing meaningful work for suppliers and addressing challenges faced by migrant workers, benefiting both business and individuals.

Sempra Publishes 2023 Corporate Sustainability Report

Sempra recently released its 2023 Corporate Sustainability Report – Ideas with Energy – highlighting how its eco-friendly practices are enhancing operations and benefiting communities and the environment.

The Paris agreement, adopted by 195 countries is the first-ever universal and legally binding, global climate deal. The target of the agreement — limiting the global average temperature rise to well below 2 °C, while aiming to limit the increase to 1.5 °C — cannot be achieved without a major overhaul of global energy consumption and production as over 75% of global emissions result from use of energy.
