In URGENT need of a LAPTOP for an ORANG ASLI SEMAI girl who managed to enter Kolej Yayasan Pahang with the results of 3 As.

Her father lost his income due to the Telum Hydro Dam project. One of her siblings had to stop school to earn daily wages to sustain the family.

Another misty morning drive up to Lipis district of Pahang.

We made another visit to an Orang Asli village where we continue to build relationship and understand needs.

Our volunteer spent a lot of time with the children this time. She finds that they are not attending school (too far away) and illiterate.

ELITE is currently in the planning stage of a Basic Education Project for two OA Kampungs. We plan to conduct basic education classes (reading, writing, basic arithmetic) three days a week. The classes will be open to all ages. Even some teens and adults are illiterate.

We will announce details of the project soon.

On 13th May, I am leaving for the interior of Sabah where there is no connectivity.

Yes, we took time to listen when we visited on Friday.
The children did not go to school. They can't read nor write and understand only the bare minimum of Bahasa Malaysia.

Most of the women don't know their age.

Our first initiative is to have Bahasa Malaysia speak, read and write classes 3 times weekly for all age groups.

A village surrounded by palm oil estates. There is not much they can forage yet they have no skills nor knowledge to venture out.

PPertubuhan Komuniti ELITEis giving them 'fish' today to buy time to see how we can help them learn how to 'fish'. We are going in to organise economic empowerment for the men and women and education and skill transfer for the young people and children.

We have 124 more groceries to go and I believe together we can do it.
