Harumi Homeniaga ๐ began with a group of housewives dedicated to promoting women's businesses and maintaining wellness in the Kota Kemuning community.
During the MCO period, we stopped operating our business. However, we noticed that many people were jobless, without income, and some were even struggling with hunger๐ฅฒ. We saw people raising white flags, asking for help.
In response, we decided to lend a helping hand to as many people as possible โค๏ธโค๏ธ. We started by donating chickens to the poor because chickens are high in protein and minerals๐๐ฑ
Despite being a team of housewives with no corporate contacts, we managed to secure a partnership with one of the largest chicken suppliers, Harumi, through our associates. Harumi mainly supplies chickens ๐to B2B (business-to-business) clients, primarily large chains in town. We are grateful for their support in supplying chickens to us, even in small quantities๐
Initially, we donated chickens to the poor through trusted organizations recommended by friends in our community. We also gave away chickens to our friends to tryโค๏ธ
To our surprise, people came back asking for more of these high-quality chickens, praising their freshness, tenderness, and lack of the usual bad smell๐๐๐๐
Seeing the high demand ๐ฑ๐ฑand aware that many other chicken suppliers in town may use shortcuts to reduce cost that may harm consumers, we decided to deliver chickens directly to customers' doorsteps๐ช๐ช๐ช
This was especially important during the MCO period when many people, including the elderly and children, couldn't leave their homes due to the virus and movement restrictionsโค๏ธ
We visited Harumi Chicken's processing plants to learn more about their methods and to ensure the quality of the chickens we planned to sell. We were pleased to find that Harumi's chickens are fully certified by local and international authorities, ISO certified, and Halal๐๐๐๐
As our chicken supply grew, more housewives joined us, helping to sell the chickens. We started in Kota Kemuning and expanded to Putra Heights, Damansara, Puchong, Seremban, and Penang Island. Despite the thin margins, our housewives' team was motivated by the chance to earn some pocket money or get free chickens๐
This initiative wouldn't have succeeded without support from Harumi HQ. As we expanded quickly, we enlisted a third-party transporter to assist with deliveries across the Klang Valley. Our goal remains to ensure our consumers "Eat safe , healthy and spend smart."๐
