Effective tips for hijab care that you must know 🤓💡

I’ve been wearing hijabs for a while and tried different types of hijabs since I started adding them to my wardrobe. I like to wear good-quality hijabs that last for a long time. So, I would share some tips that works for me 😉

Before anything, the secret to long-lasting hijabs is to take good care of them regularly. And Here’s what I do to take care of my hijabs:

• Find the right pins and safety pins - the pins and safety pins make all the difference! Poorly made pins/ safety pins or rusty pins can stain your hijab and damaged safety pins can snag and ruin your hijab.
• Treat stains ASAP - when you have a stain on your hijab, treat it right away. The sooner you treat it, the better chances you’ll have to save your hijab.
• Washing hijabs - Hand washing is best for most hijabs. It’s easier to hand wash them while you’re taking a shower. Use only mild detergent, castile soap, or even body soap and cold water to wash hijabs.
• Ironing in low heat - everyone love to iron their hijabs for a crisp and nicer look. But remember to iron your hijabs on the low setting of your iron. Press on the reverse side of your hijab to preserve the sheen of the fabric.

You won’t need to wash or iron your hijabs often if you take care of your hijab right away once you’re back home. Just make sure to keep them stain-free and then store them neatly!

STORY TIME ALERT 🚨

You know what, I hate it when my shawl starting to pulled thread, which looks like a scratch on the fabric, it’s totally a huge turn off for me. Who else can relate? I used to live in fear of ruining my scarves with my pins, especially the more shiny ones like, ehem, satin scarves.

Some scarves would cost me >RM50 and it end up breaking my heart 💔 So gradually, I started to abandon my satin scarves in favour of thicker ones like bubble crepe. Just because I couldn’t stand for another heartbreak. Dramatic but true! 😂

So when I started wearing Thalia, I admit I was reluctant. Don’t get me wrong — I am completely in love with Thalia itself. But I didn’t want something that could be ruined so easily. But here’s the thing that I just found out after getting shawl from this Thalia collection: the fabric is not the problem. The pins are! 💡

I was using pins that aren’t sharp! Whew, my bad 🤭

1. As with most stains, it’s important you ACT QUICKLY.
2. Gently scrape away any excess oil or grease.
3. Apply a generous amount of talcum powder onto the stain, and let it sit for a few hours, or overnight.
4. Carefully brush the powder from the fabric, and wash the garment as normal.

And there you have it! Now that you know how to remove oil stains from satin shawls, you’ll never have to consider saying goodbye to your favourite satin shawl again 🙈
