SESRIEM CANYON
Formed some 2 million years ago as the then mighty Tsauchab River cut its way through the sedimentary rocks, this geological phenomenon is now one of Namibia's most popular tourist attractions.
The early Afrikaans explorers named the canyon after the fact that they had to use six (“ses”) leather straps (“riem”) tied together to create a rope long enough to lower buckets into the canyon below, in order to fetch water.

Travelling westwards en route to Khorixas, is the Ugab Vingerklip (finger of rock) situated amongst the rugged Ugab Terraces.
The Rock Finger stands on a hill top. It has a height of 929 m above sea level and the rock itself is 35 metres high.
Visitors are allowed to climb the hill to view the rock formation, however, it is prohibited to climb the Vingerklip
