Whilst we love spending time with Africa's iconic species, safaris aren't only about lions and elephants, and it's always exciting bumping into lesser-known creatures. Smaller than a cheetah with a similar coat, servals spend much of their time foraging for rodents, birds, reptiles, frogs, and insects. Satellite-dish ears help these cats track down their prey which they pounce on using long, powerful limbs. This gorgeous cat was spotted on the prowl near our new Mara Toto Tree Camp.

📷 “I waited 10 hours to get this image! We knew the leopard Bahati had hidden her cubs in a den alongside a river. We parked in the river crossing about 70m from the den and waited. Seven hours passed, but Bahati never appeared. We had to return to camp as it was getting dark. We returned first thing the next morning and waited another three hours before Bahati arrived. After briefly nursing her cub, she picked it up and carried it across the river.” Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. © Ivan Glaser (Photographer of the Year 2024 runner up)
🦁 Get front row seats to the greatest wildlife spectacle! 🐘
If there is one must-see wildlife event on this planet, it’s The Great Wildebeest and Zebra Migration between the Maasai Mara in Kenya and the most Southern parts of the Serengeti in Tanzania.
From June to October, they take enormous risks trying to cross some of Africa’s most dangerous rivers to get to fresh green grass on the other side.
But from December to March, when the over-a-million-animals-large herd is in the southern parts of the Serengeti, the stakes get even higher!
Let us take you on an unforgettable wildlife experience, where you’ll get up close and personal to one of the world’s most amazing natural phenomena - the calving season of The Great Migration.

A mother leopard with her 4-month-old-daughter resting in thick cover along an intermittent watercourse called the Olkeju Rongai, to the south of the Talek River.
Leopards have 2 to 3 cubs, but in areas where there are large numbers of lions and hyenas mortality is high, with raising even one of the cubs to independence at around 1.5 to 2 years of age considered a success.
All big cats - worldwide - are threatened by the impact of the burgeoning human population with massive loss of their historical range due to development, conflict with pastoralists and farmers, poaching and the skin trade.
Today there are 20,000 wild lions in Africa, and around 7,000 cheetahs. There are no reliable population estimates but it is thought there are +100,000 leopards left in Africa and perhaps fewer than 10,000 in Asia.

As closely related subspecies, eastern lowland gorillas and mountain gorillas exhibit many visual and behavioral similarities, as well as some important differences. Bamboo leaves, for example, are a staple of lowland gorillas in Virunga, while their highland cousins are rarely observed eating them.

The conquest continues for the Black Dam Males as they solidify their dominance over the Monwana pride territory.
With no sign of Mapoza for some time now, there is nothing between them and total reign.

This little infant is not only adorable. She's the great-granddaughter of the legendary silverback, Titus! 🦍
✨Her name, Nibagwire, means “multiply."
✨She is the daughter of Ubuhamya in the Segasira family, adding to the legacy of silverback Titus, known as the “gorilla king.”
