Teen arrested for the murder of a NDF soldier denied bail

Corelearncia Elzaane Haak (19) who stands accused of allegedly killing a 31-year-old Namibian Defence Force (NDF) soldier, Elifas Ipumbu Uukongo in the early hours of Tuesday at TransNamib location in Keetmanshoop was denied bail on Thursday.
Haak made her first appearance in the Keetmashoop Magistrate's Court on a charge of murder.
According to the police report, the suspect allegedly grabbed an unknown sharp object and stabbed Uukongo in the chest causing his immediate death.
Nampol regional crime investigation coordinator Nicodemus Mbango said the murder incident happened when the suspect went to the victim's house to buy a beer.
“Uukongo opened the suspect's beer without her consent and that's when the quarreling and wrestling started. While being assaulted by the man, the suspect then grabbed an unknown object and stabbed the victim. The murder weapon has not yet been recovered. The victim was working as a lance corporal in the Keetmanshoop Namibian Defence Force, and was described by many as a kindhearted, straightforward and disciplined soldier.”
Kaukungua Kaukungua, a friend to the deceased told Eagle FM Uukongo, well-known as Zecca, was a well-mannered soldier and humbled.
“He joined the Defence Force in 2014 until his last day on earth. I am broken and don't have many words to say. That fateful day Uukongo and I spent the whole day together. Whatever happened to him that day, I am sure justice will be served,” he said.
Uukongo left behind two children and was laid to rest on Saturday at Onakazizi, Omuthiya, Oshikoto Region.
The matter was postponed to 1 December 2022. Police investigation continues.
