A) Introduction
The life and ministry of the believer are not to be undertaken without the Holy Spirit. God told Zerubabel, not by might nor by power but by my Spirit. Zech 4:6
(B) The following are some of the ministries of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer:
1. The Holy Spirit is the source of power for life and ministry. Acts 1:8.
2. He is the author and teacher of the word of God. 2 Peter 1:21; 2 Tim 3:15,16
3. The Holy Spirit is the source of divine wisdom. Isaiah 11:2; Eph 1: 17; 1Cor 2:13
4. He is the Spirit of revelation. John 16:12-14
5. He gives guidance and direction. Luke 4:1; Acts 13:2 ; Acts16: 6,7.
6. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of prayer. Rom 8:26,27; Zech 12:10
7. He is the power of transformation. He changes us by thek means of the word

CONCLUSION. A powerless christian is a contradiction in terms. The Holy Spirit is the source of power.

INTRODUCTION:
The Holy Spirit is the power of the individual Christian and the church.
The New Testament Church was born on the day of Pentecost and it was with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit power on the day of Pentecost was the fulfillment of a promise Jesus made to His disciples before He ascended to heaven after His resurrection.

A) PROMISE AND A GIFT:
Before Acts 1:2, Jesus had told His disciples that the coming of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost was the gift that the father promised.

What is a promise?
A promise is a declaration or an assurance by a person to another person that he/she will do or not do a particular thing or that a particular thing will or will not happen.

What is a gift? A gift is an item given to someone without the expectation of payment or anything in return.
A gift is free. A gift is not earned. It is not payment for anything done by the recipient. The Holy Spirit is the gift of God to the Christian.

The promise is not only to the disciples of Jesus to whom He spoke those words directly to. It is a gift and promise to everyone who will accept Jesus and be saved. (John 1:12-13; Acts 2:28-30)
All those who receive forgiveness of sins because of salvation will receive the Holy Spirit. If you are born again the moment you believed you were sealed with the Holy Spirit, the promise of the father. (Ephesians 1:13-14)

C. HOW TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT:
Even though the Holy Spirit is the gift and promise of the father, to receive Him and retain your relationship with Him you have personal responsibilities.

1. You must be born again. John 3:36, 1:12-13; Romans 8:14
2. You must desire and thirst for it. John 7:37-39
3. You must pray and ask for his outpouring and presence. Luke 11:13.
4. You must pray spend time in the study of God's word. Psalm 1:1-3
5. You must develop a life of praise and worship.

D. HE LIVES WITH YOU AND IN YOU:
Under the New Covenant, the Holy Spirit takes up abode in the Spirit of the believer.
He lives with us, we just grow in our relationship with Him as we fellowship with Him in the study of the word, prayer and worship. John 14:16-17

(A) Introduction
In the Bible, key represent power and authority. With power and authority one will also control, dominate and possess. Spiritual authority and power come by means of divine empowerment. Divine empowerment come by means of divine wisdom and knowledge. So, key also represents knowledge.
The kingdom of God is the kingdom of innumerable bodies of knowledge and spiritual principles contained in the word of God.
(B) Famine Is Not New.
Famine or hard times is a phenomenon common to mankind and so the Bible has a lot to say about famine and hard times on how to, not just survive it, but to prosper in them. Let's look at some of the keys.
(1) Don't trust in man
Jeremiah 17: 5-8
(2) Deep study and meditation on the word of God. Psalm 1:1-3; Josh 1:8; Acts 20:32
(3) Stand for holiness and live right. Psalm 37:18-20
(4) Obedience.
Gen 26:2, 3, 12, 14; Luke 5:4-6; 1 Kings 17:15, 16.
(5) Believing God's prophets 2 Kings 4:1-8.

CONCLUSION
Even in times of famine, we cannot be separated from God's love Rom 8:28. God wants to help us. But He can only do that by the instrumentality of His word. Discover how men and women who walked with Him, not only survived famines, but prospered during famine. Then do the word and not be a hearer alone.

(A) Introduction
Famine is not new. In the history of man there have been cases of famine in different countries at different times. Remember the famine that took Israel into Egypt, the situation in Biafra. Remember also the great depression of the 1929 to the 30's that affected countries of the world. See Gen 26: 1,2; 2 Kings 8 :1.
(B) God of the Famine.
God has a solution for the time of famine for those who fear Him. This is one of the products of His mercy. Gen 26: 1,2,12-14; 1 Kings 17:8-16
(C) By This Time Tomorrow
Our passages this morning contains one of the most exciting and encouraging stories of divine intervention in a period of famine. We have some lessons to learn from the story.
(1) The Power of the Prophetic Office. It was Elisha that by prophecy commanded the physical manifestation of a spiritual reality. God's prophets are his agents for the purposes of His spiritual intervention in the affairs of men. Ex 3:7-10; Hosea 12:13; 2 Chro 20 :20
The time of famine is a time to listen to God's prophets and to seek divine direction and interventions in our plans and affairs. Every genuine servant of God with spiritual authority over you is your prophet even if he may not be occupying the office of the prophet as one of the fivefold ministries. God protocol is to use him to give you divine direction and protection.
(2) God can use anything, anytime, anywhere to bring divine intervention. Remember the four lepers.
(3) Take action. The lepers did.
(4) Have Faith. Do not doubt God. Doubt not only stops miracles. It can also kill.
(5) God's ways don't always make natural sense.
(6) No matter how humanly hopeless a situation is, God has a solution and will intervene suddenly.
CONCLUSION
This is a season of divine intervention, let your faith rise. Receive and obey divine directions whether they come as logos or as rhema.

1) Every miracle is a product of an instruction fully obeyed. (Exodus.17:6, john.2:5-10)
2) God protects, blesses leads, delivers, etc. by means of divine instruction. (2kings.5:10, Genesis.6:14)
3) Divine instructions originate from the spiritual realm, so may not make meaning or meaningful to a canal man , (1corinthians.2:13)
4) When it is for congregational intervention, God speaks to the leader. (Exodus.12:1-2).
5) Every detail of a divine instruction is important. (Numbers.20:7-11)
6) Instruction of yesterday is always relevant to the today.
7) Sometimes results could be produced even when in disobedience, Numbers.20:7-11 but the consequences come.
8) The Bible is the compendium of divine instruction for life both now and in eternity. 2timothy.3:15-16.
Conclusion: God is still speaking to His people today through His written word (logos) and His spoken word Rhema. Listen obey and be blessed

Absolute obedience will make some prayers unnecessary, sacrifice is a currency in the spirit.
The sacrifice of blood is the greatest in the category of sacrifices.

WHAT THE BLOOD OF JESUS DID FOR US
1) The blood of Jesus brought redemption and peace, Ephesians.1:7
2) Because of the blood of Jesus we can receive freedom from lawful captivity
