TOPIC: THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS
TEXT: MATTHEW 6: 12-15

MESSAGE SUMMARY

The term, forgiveness indicates pardon. The Hebrew word for forgiveness is "Nasah". It is important to show forgiveness to humanity, as there would be offense at all times; hence the need for horizontal forgiveness - husband and wife, parents and children, amongst friends, colleagues, and even church members.

Forgiveness is the fundamental condition for Christian fellowship.
" When there's nothing to hide, there's nothing to fear".

REASONS FOR FORGIVENESS
1) We are forgiven through Jesus Christ - Romans 3: 23.
2) We are Christians (Christ-like).
3) We learn forgiveness from Jesus.
4) We are the Light of the world - Matthew 5: 13.
5) Unforgiveness is a self-centered act borne out of selfish pride.
6) Forgiveness brings success to the Christian life.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF FORGIVENESS
a) David forgave King a
Saul
b) Job forgave his three friends- Job 42: 10-12.
c) Stephen forgave his killers- Acts 7: 60.

The virtue of forgiveness does not entail not being angry, but relating the issue(s) to God, the greatest judge; for the weapons of our warfare ate not carnal but mighty through God.
