The United Nations Nigeria hosted a dynamic two-day Gender-Responsive Procurement Symposium to advance gender equality through procurement.
The symposium places a special emphasis on engaging and empowering female entrepreneurs. Recognizing the importance of dismantling barriers, the event actively involves women in business and encouraging their participation in procurement processes.
From thought-provoking panel discussions to interactive workshops, female entrepreneurs were at the forefront of discussions aimed at reshaping the landscape of economic opportunities.
The Chair of United Nations Procurement Network in Nigeria, Mr Daniel Kuhe highlighted the need for women to push past competition and collaborate more with one another so as to lift each other to great heights.
Mr. Lansana Wonneh, the Deputy Representative of United Nations Women Nigeria appealed directly to the government and stakeholders, urging increased engagement of women in businesses, underscoring the interconnectedness of gender equality and societal advancement.

Nigeria is experiencing a double burden of malnutrition, where undernutrition, including micronutrient deficiencies, exists alongside overweight, obesity and diet-related non-communicable diseases.

The 15 countries worst affected by acute malnutrition among children are: Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Haiti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, the Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, the Sudan and Yemen.
