For clarity please, few persons questioned why we post music with English songs please understand that Afemai is not only etsako. Akokode, Owan, and Etsako make up Afemai so for now we don't have a general language to the best of my knowledge I stand to be corrected. But we shall try to bring musics from across the senatorial district to balance it up after this sections of appreciation post let us carry everyone along. The idea of same music is to give equal vibes to all we are appreciating.

It is very hard to say goodbye rest in peace.

THE STORY OF THE PEOPLE OF ERAH AND WHY THEY DO NOT EAT RABBIT

It was recorded that at the early stage of Owan communities settlement, Erah people were living with the people of Ovbiomun (in the present day Ovbiomun Emai).

It happened that as they lived together, conflicting issues of interest started arising. This made Ovbiomun to trigger the process of eviction of Era from Ovbiomun. However, when Erah got wind of Ovbiomun’s intention, they challenged Ovbiomun and objected vehemently. Unfortunately for Ovbiomun, Erah had grown to be more powerful than Ovbiomun at that time, and could not be easily ejected from the land.

After several attempts of physical challenge, it was apparent that Ovbiomun would not be able to succeed in evicting Erah from the land, Ovbiomun had to seek assistance from their Emai brothers (Evbiamen and Urule).

When Erah heard of this development, they knew it was over for them, as it was not practically possible for them to withstand or resist the combined force of Ovbiomun, Evbiamen and Urule (the combined force). When they (Erah) learnt that the combined force were coming for them, they ran into the forest and continued running, the combined force chased them into the forest using their footprints to trace them.

It was gathered that when Erah got to a particular location, they could not proceed further so they decided to hide themselves. However, the combined force were able to trace them to that location but got confused as to which direction the Erah people went, because there was no longer footprints trace on the ground. So, they decided to retreat and pursue them no further.

Erah people spying from within with fear were astonished and confused as to what could have made the combined force to go back?

Anxiously, they came out from their hideout to unravel the mystery behind it. It was then they discovered that a rabbit had dug heap of sand to cover their footprints, so that the combined force would not be able to trace them further.

The Erah people were so pleased, happy and relieved that they had to revered rabbit and made it their totem. From that day, they vowed not to eat the meat of rabbit, which has continued till this day.

Today, Erah is located close to Ivbiaro and Warrake in Owan East, and shares boundary with Ozalla in Owan West.
