📢‼️WORLD DIGESTIVE HEALTH DAY
Theme 2024: your Digestive Health: Make it a priority.

RADIOGRAPHERS play a significant role in digestive health care, Their expertise in medical imaging is crucial for diagnosing and managing various digestive disorders.
Radiographers also work closely with gastroenterologist, surgeons and other health care professionals to provide comprehensive care.

As a Medical Radiographer, you can:
• Do a diagnostic imaging: such as fluoroscopy, CT scan, and MRI Scans to visualize the digestive tract, Which helps to identify blockages, tumors, inflammation and other conditions.

• Conduct Specials like; barium swallow, barium meal and barium e***a procedures where your patient is administered barium contrast agent. This enhances the visibility of the digestive tract in x-ray imaging to identify any abnormalities, such as ulcer, polyps and diverticulitis.

• Do an Ultrasound Scan to perform abdominal examinations to vital organs such as the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and intestines. This non- invasive technique is useful for detecting gallstones, liver disorders and other conditions.

• Monitor treatment progress of your patient, including patient care and preparation before contrast examinations

Thyroid gland produces two hormones namely thyroxine and triiodothyronine and these hormones are responsible for ensuring that the normal functions of the body are properly maintained.

World Thyroid Day is a vital observance that brings attention to the importance of thyroid health. By raising awareness, promoting early detection, and supporting research and patient care, this day contributes significantly to improving the lives of those affected by thyroid disorders.

The Theme for World Preeclampsia Day 2024 is "Predict Prevent Prevail". This theme highlights a few options besides a patient's medical and pregnancy history to help predict what patients may be at risk for preeclampsia.

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-specific disorder involving widespread endothelial dysfunction and vasospasm that usually occurs after 20 weeks of gestation and can present as late as 4-6 weeks postpartum. It is clinically defined by new-onset hypertension and proteinuria, with or without severe features.

RADIOGRAPHER'S contribute significantly to the diagnostic process by providing essential imaging data, such as CT scans, Cardiotocography and ultrasonography.

A RADIOGRAPHER'S primary role is to perform imaging studies such as Electrocardiography, CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasounds. They are trained to operate imaging equipment and ensure the quality of the images of the heart and evaluation of hypertensive patients.

The Theme for World Ovarian Cancer Day 2024 is "No Woman Left Behind"

Radiographers play a crucial role in diagnosing ovarian cancer through imaging techniques such as ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). They assist in obtaining clear images of the ovaries and surrounding structures, which can help in detecting abnormalities indicative of ovarian cancer in women.

‼️WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY
Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It primarily affects the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body. TB spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
TB patients are susceptible to attacks on vital organs such as Kidney, Spine and brain. If not properly Diagnosed on time, TB can lead to death.

As a Medical Radiographer, you can:
• Perform Chest X-ray (CXR) to identify any abnormalities, such as lung infiltrates or cavities, which may indicate TB infection.

• Do a CT Scan if not clearly visible on DDR, CT scans provide more detailed images, helping to detect TB lesions or complications such as pleural effusion or lymphadenopathy.

• Monitor treatment progress of your patient.

• Control Infection with your healthcare facilities.
