MOON SIGHTING -YORUBA LAND COUNCIL FOR ISLAMIC PREACHERS.
As fasting is one of the pillars of Islam. Allah has ordained upon us to be focused, especially in counting of both days and months.
Allah says: "Indeed, the number of months with Allāh is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allāh." Quran 9:32.
With the facts above the YORUBA LAND COUNCIL FOR ISLAMIC PREACHERS has urged all Muslims around the nation (Nigeria) to look out for the new moon and to direct their result of sighting the moon to the appropriate office for announcement if seen in any part of the country.
According to astronomical counting. It is announced that *Ramadan will be 30 days in Nigeria and most parts of the world.* Yet, our body still believes in either 29th or the forecasted 30 days. This is inline with the sayings of the prophet pbuh in the authentic Hadith of the prophet pbuh as narrated by Abu Hurairah (R) in Hadith_No 2381
The Messenger of Allah pbuh made a mention of the new moon and (in this connection) said: "Observe fast when you see it (the new moon) and break fast when you see it (the new moon of Shawwal), but when (the actual position of the month is) concealed from you (on account of cloudy sky), then count thirty days."
Conclusively, we pray to Almighty Allah to make us witness more of the blessed month of Ramadan in Islam and may Allah accept everything from us as an act of ibaadah. Aameen.
