Patients play an active role in the delivery of quality healthcare services rather than merely being passive recipients of the services. It is essential to value their preferences, needs, and voices while recognizing their participation in decision-making.
Research consistently demonstrates that patients who engage actively in their care experience improved health outcomes, including higher adherence to treatment plans and the adoption of positive lifestyle changes. Let us continue to prioritize patient involvement and foster better healthcare outcomes.

Malnutrition is a significant challenge in many parts of Africa. It is driven by factors like poverty, limited access to nutritious food, inadequate healthcare, and poor sanitation. It affects both children and adults reducing their overall productivity and wellbeing.
In Africa, there are over 216 million children suffering from stunting, impaired development, and weakening immune systems caused by malnutrition. Malnutrition ranks as the second leading cause of child mortality in sub-Saharan Africa after malaria.
At InSiGHt Health Consulting Ltd, we provide technical assistance to programs and interventions in implementing initiatives that aims at reducing malnutrition and its effects. We also support robust evidence generation for program design and implementation, and policy advocacy. Together, we can combat malnutrition and work towards a brighter and healthier future for African children.
World Patient Safety Day is an annual global campaign led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness about patient safety and promote actions to improve it. This year focusses on "Engaging Patients in Patient Safety" which is a big concern across all health sectors. While healthcare professionals play a critical role in ensuring patient safety, engaging patients in this endeavor can lead to even better outcomes.
When patients are actively engaged as collaborators in their healthcare, substantial improvements are observed in safety, patient contentment, and health results. Through active participation as integral members of the healthcare team, patients can play a role in enhancing the safety of their own care and that of the entire healthcare system.
Creating platforms and opportunities that empower a wide range of patients, families, and communities to express their opinions, concerns, expectations, and preferences will go a long way in achieving better health outcome.
At InSiGHt Health Consulting Ltd, we build in patients' perspective in designing our quality improvement plan and system. This enables us to guage service quality and expectation from the patients perspective to ensure we build a holistic quality improvement approach.
Note that, patient safety is not a one-day concernโit's an ongoing commitment. Let's ensure that every day is a step forward in our mission to protect and improve the lives of patients worldwide.

By collecting and analyzing data, informed decisions are made, and effective strategies are developed to address global health challenges, especially in Africa.
It is essential that health research is conducted ethically and in alignment with national and international standards. This includes fully informing participants about the research and what it entails, obtaining their informed consent to participate, avoiding any potential exploitation of participants, and collecting data systematically and without bias.
Ethics is a factor we consider very seriously at InSiGHt; not only do we adhere to ethical practices, we also ensure that our research is carried out in a respectful and responsible way. This means taking into account the rights and needs of participants, protecting confidentiality, and ensuring quality data.
Partnerships can be a driving force for real change and progress in global health, especially in Africa. Through partnerships, vital resources, capacity, and support interact for better service delivery and improved health outcomes.
We are proud to partner with government and non-governmental organizations, local and international development partners, and programmes to drive innovations and improve health outcomes. Let us continue to work together to achieve significant and long-term health outcomes, especially in Africa.
On congenital heart awareness day, we take a moment to honour those affected by Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) and appreciate organizations who have committed resources through research and programmes to enable more infants with CHDs survive to adulthood. Congenital Heart Defect is one of the most common birth defects in the world, affecting millions of people each year.
We must continue to raise awareness, support research, and provide care for those affected by Congenital Heart Defects.
Data quality is critical to the success of African healthcare initiatives. It is important that the data collected is accurate, complete, and consistent. Quality data equips decision-makers to deliver better health programmes and improve health outcomes. Let us work together to make data quality a priority in Africa's healthcare system!

Substance abuse is becoming a public health threat in Nigeria. The drug use prevalence in Nigeria is 14.4 per cent, which is significantly higher than the global average. It remains a high-risk behaviour among young people, with severe physical and mental health consequences; thus, we must continue raising awareness and taking action to curb this threat.
According to the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria requires an average of 1.8 million pints of blood per year to keep its people healthy.
However, Nigeria's National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) reports that only 500,000 pints of blood are collected per year, leaving a 73.3 per cent shortfall, with only 5% (25,000 pints) coming from voluntary donors.
We use this day and medium to appreciate volunteers who donate blood regularly to save lives and encourage everyone to join the effort.
Safeguard the future. Keep schools safe. ๐๐โ
Several studies have shown that preventable health and safety problems can negatively impact children's learning.
SafeZoneโข was developed by InSiGHt in collaboration with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) to improve school health and safety outcomes in Africa.
To learn more about SafeZone, visit https://www.insighthc.org/safezone/.
School safety is linked to improved student and school outcomes. However, more than half of the world's schools do not have access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities.
If you don't think it is safe, it probably isn't. Prepare and prevent โ ๏ธ.
Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The primary goal of this day is to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. Maintaining good safety and health standards at our workplace is critical since most of us spend a significant amount of time at work.
At IHC, we are committed to staff and workplace safety. We want to use this opportunity and medium to encourage other organisations to do the same.
Following the breakthrough with the new malaria vaccine, there is a need to continue innovating and deploying more tools in the fight against malaria to save as many lives as possible.
Lassa Fever is highly contagious, but it is preventable. Protect yourself and your family today.
Every year, between 5.7 and 8.7 million people die in low and middle-income countries due to poor quality care. The necessary structures for achieving quality care are insufficient. To address this, stakeholders must prioritize quality improvement and strengthening healthcare delivery systems.
Despite the challenges women have faced throughout history, it is heartwarming to see women defy biases and accomplish great things every day.
Happy International Womenโs Day to all incredible women out here.
