We are excitedly looking forward to our first Fellowship meeting of the year! Woman, the DoorKeeper!

Everything in life has a door! 🔻Even Jesus our Lord and Saviour is a Door! Yes, you read right! John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved…
🔻Heaven has a door…Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven..
🔻The Womb…Job 3:10 Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb…
🔻The Sea…Job 38:8 Or who shut up the sea with doors…

There are doors (visible and invisible) to everything you desire. You only need Access! If there are Doors, then there are DoorKeepers, who determine access, they issue visa, they allow or disallow access!

Whether you know it or not, you are a DoorKeeper yourself, yes YOU! You hold the key to some great doors!

You can determine access, you can determine exit! You can issue eviction notice! You can collaborate with other DoorKeepers. You can sight a foe from afar, you can sight a friend from afar…you need to know which is which to guard your door ferociously!

PREVENTING SIBLING RIVALRY AMONGST YOUR CHILDREN
WHAT IS SIBLING RIVALRY?
When siblings or children of same or mixed parents compete, are in conflict or dispute with one another. It can be due to envy/jealousy, show of favouritism to one or more by parents, the success of one over another etc.

EXAMPLES IN BIBLE
Cain and Abel
Jacob and Esau
Joseph and Brothers
Prodigal son and brother

HOW TO PREVENT IT
1. Be alert to sense it and nip it in the bud before it gains root and spirals out of control.
Deliberately knit your children. For instance, instead of saying “Peter, go and bring Jason’s bag” say “Peter, go and bring YOUR BROTHER’S bag”. Personalise ownership and bond amongst your children. By your choice of words, let them be knit and have a healthy bonding.
“Chioma, help YOUR SISTER do her homework” Instead of “Chioma, help Chinwe do her homework” What are you achieving by this? You are communicating that “Chinwe, Chioma is your sister.” The frequency of such style of communication over time will sit firmly in your children’s mind that they are brothers/sisters.

2. Teach them to care for each other. For instance, if one is feeling strong, let the other pray for her sibling, administer the drug, wash each other’s hair, clear the table after meal etc. Ensure these little tasks for each other. For instance, you can say: “Bimbo, help your younger brother put the eye drop in his eye…” Teach and let them practically demonstrate care in little areas.

3. Avoid any show of favouritism. Taking sides often with one against the others, validating one, giving special attention, treats and things to one without doing same for others is risky. We saw this with Jacob and Esau. Also with Joseph and his brothers, His dad gave him the coat of many colours…one child out of eleven children! If you’re giving a reward for good behaviour or good grades in school, throw it open to all your children. For instance, you can say “Can we all agree that whoever scores xyz in their result will get KFC”. It is “whoever” and when the whoever does get the score, he/she should be rewarded openly. At the time of reward, remind them that it was a joint agreement so that there are no hard feelings. Again, using special endearments for one without using it for others. “My darling son is coming home from school tomorrow” so what are the rest of the children? Your “undarling sons” what if you say “Chika, your darling brother is coming home tomorrow”? Let the excitement emanate from them.

4. Avoid comparison: This is very prevalent with Mothers and we need the help of the Holy Spirit for this. Like favouritism, comparison breeds envy, jealousy, resentment, dislike and everything in that spectrum. “Your eldest brother wrote JAMB once, your older sister too wrote it once…look at you, this is the third time that you’re writing it….!” Suppose you say “You’re as intelligent as your brother and sister who wrote JAMB once so I know you can make it too, you just need to commit more to your studies”

“Every month, your brother sends credit to my phone, your sister too but you, your stinginess is imported!” Suppose you say instead “Your brother and sister send credit to my phone every month but you don’t have to if you can’t afford it”

Allow your children to be comfortable and feel valuable without comparison.

SPIRITUAL INTERVENTION
1. Seek the help of the Holy Spirit. As much as is within you, try to be consistent and constant in your dealings with your children by the help of the Holy Spirit.
2. Pray for wisdom and pray for your children, uproot the seed of rivalry on the altar of prayers.
3. Be spiritual and be in the Spirit. It eliminates carnality in relating with your children.
4. Love them all equally by the help of the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 54:13 “And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.”

Your children shall live in peace, love and harmony with each other in Jesus’ matchless name.

A MOTHER ENTHRONES HER SON AS KING - 1 Kings 1:11-end
Only a devoted Mother could have pulled this off!
Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon, took counsel from the priest Nathan, and succeeded in enthroning Solomon as the reigning King, while David was still on the throne! How did she do it? Let’s learn…

1.She went to the king
2.Reminded him of his promise to her to enthrone her son
3.She honoured, reverenced and bowed before the king. Her approach was characterised by humility, meekness and honour.
4.She was informed and updated. She had her facts with her that an imposter, Adonijah, was threatening her son’s throne.
5.She made a call for action…she activated an action from the king to publicly proclaim her son as king
6.She collaborated with Nathan the priest
7.She thanked the king after he obliged her request

Solomon was anointed king!

Except my womb didn’t carry this seed will Adonijah be crowned king!

Dear Mother, you can enthrone your daughter and son in their place of glory. Join other Mothers as we go before the King of kings, to remind Him of His Word, to worship Him, to pour our hearts to Him about threats to our children’s breakthrough…In our lifetime, our children shall be GREAT!

THE POWER OF A DETERMINED MOTHER - Gen 27:1-end
Many times we have accused Rebekah of favouritism. It may be true. However, I want to focus on her role in ensuring her son is blessed by his father, his limitation as the second son notwithstanding. Esau and Jacob were TWINS, that means they share same birth date and gestation. The only variable is that one came before the other. Rebekah rose up for her perceived sidelined son, who was to be denied of a Father’s blessing and she took on several roles to do this:

1. She took on the role of an eavesdropper to overhear Isaac’s conversation with Esau
2. She took on the role of a chef to cook the meal to Isaac’s preference, even added a loaf of bread as extra!
3. She put her life on the line to take the bullet of any curse from Isaac if the plan failed.
4. She became a stylist to dress up her son for the role of pretending to be Esau
5. She pumped confidence and courage in Jacob who was unsure if the plan will go through…
6. She took on the role of a migration strategist to devise a fail-proof plan of his exit from the country when Esau threatened his life…

Ah! Don’t play with a determined Mother! She will face any onslaught and take on a hurricane to help her child…

Jacob got the blessing!

The means does not justify the end, however, the focus is on the unreserved love of a mother to protect her child.
