A release by Sector Commander I O Success, the OC Admin to the Commandant reads: “I join Mr. President, Men of the Nigerian Legion and the rest of the country to felicitate our compatriots, especially the CorpsofCommissionaires, on the 63rd independence anniversary. There is no pretending that our country is undergoing a truly challenging phase in national development. However, I am upbeat that we will emerge better, stronger, more united and prosperous as a people.

“We may not be where we want to be, but our country is definitely neither stagnant nor hopeless. With more dose of unity, patriotism, discipline, positive disposition, and belief in the strength of our diversity and ingenuity as a people, we will attain our full potential as the largest nation of black people in the world.

“I, therefore, congratulate Mr. President, identify with and acknowledge his strides in infrastructural development, and the efforts to curtail insecurity while fostering national peace and stability. Nigerian Legion Corps Of Commissionaires and our administration will always show a good example in how to live and grow together in peace and harmony,” the Commandant said in his Independence Day statement.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF NIGERIAN ARMY SPONSORSHIP OF DECEASED PERSONNEL CHILDREN FOR 2022/2023 ACADEMIC SESSION

The Nigerian Army is announcing the commencement of verification and screening of eligible beneficiaries for Sponsorship of children of it’s personnel who died in active service.The scheme is designed to give the children of the deceased the requisite necessary education.

The verification and screening is for Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions from 17 January to 17 February 2023 at Army Headquarters Command Officers Mess Asokoro, Abuja. It is meant for existing and new applicants.

Applicants would be in the following Categories:

a. Primary School - 6 - 12 Years of Age.

b. Secondary School - 12 – 18 Years of Age.

c. Tertiary Institutions - 18 – 22 Years of Age.

Required documents for the screening and verification exercise are :

a. Handwritten application for Sponsorship containing the names of the children.

b. Letter of Admission of the beneficiary.

c. Last School Report Card/results of the beneficiary.

d. Letter of Confirmation from the School as to the students of the beneficiary.

e. Birth Certificate of the beneficiary.

f. Death Certificate of the deceased personnel.

g. Part 2 Orders Publication of death.

h. Condolence Letter of deceased Parent.

i. NOTICAS Signal.

j. Nigerian Army Application for Sponsorship form duly completed by the last unit and formation headquarters of the deceased personnel.

k. Four recent passport photograph of the beneficiary.

l. Passport photograph of the deceased personnel.

m. Account number and sort code.

n. Telephone number of the surviving parent or administrator.

A lot of people have been asking why is it that when Army chief is going to visit other High respected people they go on Uniform, when Commissioner of police is going for a visit he does the same likewise other Sister Agencies but when the Nigerian Legion Coordinating General is going to visit Army Barracks, Visiting Governors or other Higher Authorities he goes on Civilian Dress.

2. Are you aware that he has been Wearing Uniform for Many years before his retirement ?
3. Are you aware that he is highly respected in anywhere he appeared to visit ?
4. Do you think he is Ashame of wearing the Nigerian Legion Uniform as people said ?
5. Have he ever visited any Military Cantonment or any Army Unit without be recognized all because he came with Civilian Dress ?
6. Do you really think it's necessary or compulsory to retire from Wearing Uniform only to Start wearing it all over again ?
7. Do you know that when you retire from the Army, Navy or Air Force you Automatically becomes a Legionnare ?

Alright let's look at the Statistics: if you retire from the Legion what will you become ? ... You becomes a Legionnare right ? This means that if the General Start Wearing Uniform all over again he will definitely wear the Uniform forever ?

The Nigerian Legion invites Application from suitable and qualified Candidates into the Nigerian Legion All Auxiliary Arms.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
a) Applicants must be a Nigerian Citizen and possess valid means of Identification or BVN.
b) Applicant must be between the age of 18-30 years.
c) Applicant must be medically, physically any psychologically fit and must not be less then 5.5ft tall for the Male and 5.3ft for Female Applicants.
d) Female Applicant must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment.
e) Applicant must be free from criminal indictments.
f) All Applicants must print and sign Guarantors / Police Certification Form and Submit same at the Screening Center.

A Court of Appeal sitting in Oyo state has set aside the judgment which declared the attack on the house of Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo also Known as Sunday Igboho illegal.

The court also nullified the N20 billion exemplary and aggravated damages awarded against the Department of State Security for the attack, describing it as outrageous.

Justice Muslim Hassan who gave the judgment said the Oyo State High Court lacked jurisdiction on the matter, adding that the judge should not have awarded damages based on his personal parameters.

Oyo State High Court in September 2021 declared the raid conducted by the Department of State Service on the residence of Sunday Igboho in Ibadan as illegal.

Justice Ladiran Akintola in a judgment had ordered the DSS to pay a sum of 20 billion naira to Igboho as exemplary and aggravated damages.

The DSS operatives in July 2021 invaded Igboho’s home, leading to the arrest of 12 of his aides, while the Yoruba nation agitator managed to escape arrest

One injured as Fayose’s brother escapes kidnap attempt

One person was injured when gunmen attempted to kidnap Isaac, the younger brother of former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose in Gbongan community, the headquarters of Ayedaade Local Government area of Osun State.

Isaac posted the pictures of the attacked vehicle on his page with the username Prince Isaac Fayose, disclosing that no life was lost but the gunmen abducted many.

Police Arrest 'Army Captain' For Armed Robbery

A 39-year-old fake army captain identified as Andy Teddy Edwards has been arrested by detectives of the Lagos State Police Command.

According to police, the suspect pretends to be a modeling agent and invites ladies for an audition, then robs them at gunpoint of their cars and possessions.

Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed the arrest on Sunday via Twitter

According to him, the fake soldier was arrested after an investigation was initiated when a victim reported the theft of her Lexus RX330 SUV.
