QUA'AN-PAN COUNCIL FLAGS OFF FREE COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL, SURGICAL SERVICES
Qua’an-Pan Local Government Council of Plateau State, under the leadership of Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a has on 31st January, 2023 kicked off a 6-Day Free Medical Outreach in 5 designated towns within the Local Government Area, to last until February 5, 2023.
Declaring the exercise opened at the Flag Off ceremony at Pedong Clinic and Maternity Namu; amidst cheers from the people; the Council Chairman, Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a stated that the gesture is his Administration's drive towards the provisions of social services to the densely populated rural areas, especially in the area of health care service delivery.
Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a, said it is the second time this Administration is providing such succour to the people, especially those who may not have the capacity to meet their health needs and obligations.
Da’a disclosed that during the first exercise in 2022, over 10,000 citizens benefited from the Free Comprehensive Medical and Surgical Services, saying that more people are expected to benefit from the exercise, because of the deliberate decision to decentralize the services to five centers, located at Kwalla, Kwande, Kwa, Doemak and in Namu, adding that the decision to take the Outreach closer to the people was to ensure maximum benefits by the citizens.
“It is in realization of this, that the Local Government Council in collaboration with the Association of Resident Doctors, Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos, decided to hold this year's Outreach in the 5 earmarked centers, holding from 8:00am to 4:00 pm each day. Citizens with any health challenge (s) are therefore encouraged to take advantage of the decentralization policy and patronize any of the centres, as 50 Doctors and other highly qualified medical personnel have been mobilized to meet all types of their health needs,” Da’a stated.
The Council Boss further explained, that the 5 medical facilities to host the Outreach are; the Cottage Hospital Kwalla; Peter Bawa and Anna Memorial Clinic, Kwande; Pedong Clinic and Maternity, Namu; the Primary Health Care Centre Kwa, while the outreach at the Primary Health Care Centre, Doemak, will strictly be for Eyes related problems, including surgeries and glasses.
The Executive Chairman informed that because of his Administration's believe in the adage that "Health is Wealth," the Council undertook several medical interventions in order to provide succor to the citizens, which included the completion of the construction work on the PHC Clinic at Kurgwi East Ward and the distribution of large quantities of Drugs and other Hospital equipments to the various PHC Clinics in the LGA, under the Drugs Revolving Scheme programme of the QP Project administration.
The Chairman said, the Council has been supportive to civil society and faith based organizations in their respective desire to provide amenities to the citizens, disclosing that his Administration is currently disbursing the sum of 42million naira only (N2.1 million each to 20 rural communities) as contributions for different developmental projects.
Hon. Da’a expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Association of Resident Doctors, Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos, led by Dr. Joel Daboet for accepting to be part of the historic lives saving exercise and thanked the various health institutions for making available their facilities towards the success of the Outreach.
He commended Members of the Legislative Council, the Traditional Institution and the good people of Qua'an-Pan Local Government Area for all the supports and encouragements they have been giving to the Council.
The Head of medical team, which comprised of personnel indigenous to the LGA, Dr. Joel Daboer promised to do their best, and appealed for cooperation and understanding from the people. He informed that before the official flag off, they undertook more than 10 major surgeries involving different ailments.
In his speech, the Long Jan of Namu Chiefdom, Engr. Dr. Safiyanu A. Magaji III, appreciated the kind gesture of Hon Ernest Abner Da'a led Administration for always identifying with the needy and for extending most of the LGA facilities to his domain.
He cited the building of Divisional Police Office, construction of bridges and taking proactive security measures within the Chiefdom, and assured that his people will continue to exhibit peaceful conducts.
Some of the patients expressed appreciation to the Local Government Council for the kind gesture and prayed to God to protect and lead the leadership to always put the people first.
The APC Chairman in the LGA, Hon. Kangmi Haruna Jibrin appreciated the Council for decentralizing the exercise, while both the LGC Supervisory Councillor for Health and Director of health Department admonished the bold steps taken, adding that the exercise is historic.
Dignitaries at the flag off included Members of the Legislative Council, led by Hon. Jonah Damar, Council Secretary, Hon. Godenaan Gideon Dashe, the Zonal Inspector (ZI), DPM, DFS, all Supervisory Councillors, APC faithful and a large number of citizens of the LGA, who thronged the venue to be attended to.
After the flag off in Namu, Hon Da'a later led his team to the other 4 Centres in Kwande, Kwalla, Doemak and Kwa, where they were met by appreciating members of the public.

CHANGING THE NARRATIVE FOR PKK AS GAGDI CAMPAIGN COUNCIL IS INAUGURATED TO PROSECUTE 2023 ELECTION
-Supporters send statement of intent!@
In what appears to be the gathering of the brightest in the political landscape of Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, the inauguration of the Gagdi Campaign Council lived up to its billing.
It was the occasion of the inauguration of the Gagdi Campaign Council (GCC) put in place to prosecute the campaigns for the reelection of Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi in 2023.
But it was the speech of the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate for Plateau State, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe that changed the tone of the event.
Yilwatda solicited for their support to bring him on board as well as other candidates for the various positions in the zone; who are contesting on the banner of the APC.
He told the crowd that included the who is who in PKK, said if Tinubu/Shettima ticket and his candidacy becomes a reality, it would be easy to lobby and get things done for the state.
They are about 1200 persons on the Council headed by Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi as chairman. The Director General is Hon Philip P Dasun, while the Secretary General is ND Shehu Kanam; with numerous directorates to help prosecute the second term bid.
The Women Affairs Directorate is headed by a one time House of Assembly member, Hon Alice Dimlong, Youth Affairs Directorate ics headed by Mr. Oluwadaser David and Media Affairs headed by a big name in the media industry, Mr. Katdapba Y Gobum.
The large size of the Council, enabled for major mobilization for attendance from across PKK. Gagdi's disposition to doing the needs of the people must have made people come out en mass . The event at best, must have sent shivers into the spine of members of the opposition camp.
More big names that gained entrance into the venue were drawn from Nasarawa, Lagos and Benue States. But it was instructive that they were agreed on one thing: A good product has the capacity to sell itself.
The Dengi mini stadium became smaller in size than it could have ordinarily been because of enthusiastic supporters who thronged the venue in their numbers.
The entrance of the Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi and Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe turned the space into a carnival of dance, with the local security finding it hard to take control for the programme to kick start.
Speaking, Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, who was elated beyond measure described the support for the event as encouraging, even as he said that the occasion was used to test the mic.
Speaker after another poured encomiums on the people's representative, who they described as focused to have changed the course of the federal constituency.
Those who also spoke included Hon (Dr) Dayyabu Yusuf Garga, Prof SMG Kanam, Nde John G Gobak, Nde and Joshua Waklek amongst other party leaders.
The Director General of the Gagdi Campaign Council, Hon Philip P. Dasun, speaking on behalf of members pledged their unalloyed commitment to the success of the campaign that would return him for a second term.

DENGI, JANUARY 23, 2023
Catholic Action Nigeria, in collaboration with Catholici In Political & Plateau Arise, organized an interactive session with all the Gubernatorial candidates in Plateau State on the 17th Dec. 2022, at the Conference Hall, Sacred Heart Pastoral Center Jos.
The Interactive Session was approved by His Grace, Most Rev Dr Matthew Ishaya Audu, Catholic Arch Bishop of Jos. The aim of the interaction according to the organizers, is to avail members of the Archdiocese the opportunity to closely & freely interact with the Gubernatorial candidates, with the hope of making the church have informed opinion as to the 2023 Governorship election in Plateau State.
The organizers did well by having the following qualitative individuals who served as the panelists during the session.
(1)Prof Patricia Lar. Uni Jos.
(2)Dr Jimam Lar. HOD, History & International Studies, Uni Jos.
(3)Dr Ponsah Saleh. Uni Jos
(4)Mr Paul Bot. President, Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria CYON, Jos Archdiocese.
(5)Ngo Evelyn Dung Dantah. President, Catholic Women Organization CWO. Jos Archdiocese.
(6)Sir Simon Abah. President, Laity Council of Nigeria.
(7)Mrs Florence Uweze. LEADER, Market Women Association, Jos South LGA.
The above mention person's, did Justice to the parley, by raising fundamental questions,The questions mostly centered on Education, Economy, Security & the Church as well as other religious beliefs.
Unfortunately, Labour Party was the only party that honored the invitation through its Dep Governorship candidate, HE Hon Edward Gyang Pwajok SAN LB KSG. HE Pwajok, brought to bare his knowledge & experiences in his long years of service as Attorney General & commissioner for Justice Plateau State & also his service as a National legislator of international repute. The audience & panelist were astound but not surprise as to the knowledge & capacity the Dep Governorship candidate of the LP displayed.
Sir Simon Abah, Ngo Evelyn Dung Dantah & Mr Paul Bot all registered their unreserved disappointment & dismay for the flagrant disrespect shown to the Catholic church by the other political parties who did not honor the invitation despite proper notice.
In the case of the PDP, HE Barr Caleb Mutfwang wrote a withdrawal letter duly signed by himself on the exact day of the program which was the 17th Dec. 2022. He said he was not notified earlier but the person who brought Barr Mutfwang's letter, was shown an endorsed & return copy, served to them, 10 clear days to the date of the program.
The Arch Bishop was represented by the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Very Rev Fr Daniel Gyang who said, the Catholic church has not chosen or adopted any candidate but hope that through the interactive session, members of the church will be guided as to who to vote for but he went further to advise that the choice should be base on COMPETENCE, CREDIBILITY, CAPACITY & TRACK RECORD of the candidates.
Finally, we thank HE Edward Gyang Pwajok SAN for instructing us earlier not to publicize what transpired during the program because of its sensitivity. However, We thank the organizers of the program for granting us permission to put down the story.

APC PROSPECTIVE DELEGATES VERSUS APC: JUSTICE ASHOMS TO RULE ON NANTAWE YILWATDA'S APPLICATION FOR JOINDER ON 22ND NOVEMBER.
By Enoch Shaks, Joan Yusuf, Asile Abel & Nanzing Zingkong, Jos
Honourable Justice Arum Ashoms of the Plateau State High Court sitting in the Plateau State Division has adjourned the matter filed by the ten Prospective All Progressive Congress (APC) against the All Progressives Congress for ruling on application by Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, the APC Governorship Candidate of the party in the state to join in the matter.
You will recall that the aggrieved prospective delegates instituted legal action against the party for excluding them as the legitimately recognized delegates of the party in the primary Election and used other delegates who are not knownand against the the constitutions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that of the APC.
The matter before Justice Arum I Ashoms slated today 17th November,2022 for determination on the application of APC Governorship Candidate, Nentawe Yilwatda seeking to be joined in the matter.
In his argument, the Counsel representing Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, Barr A.G Yirvoms told the court that they brought a motion on notice dated 24th Oct,22 ,supported by 18 paragraph affidavit and relying on all the depositions there in.
Yirvoms further pointed out that attached to the application is exhibit A,B & C, accompanied by a written address.
However, praying the court to grant the application and stressing that the crux of their application is that his client ,Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda who is the Governorship Candidate of the party, APC,is a product of the election conducted and this application affect him directly and argued the court to grant it.
In his argument the Claimants Counsel ,Barr S.A Abba vehemently disagreed with the position of Dr Nentawe Yilwatda for claiming to be a product of the election as the matter was brought to court on the 24th,May,2022.
Abba in his deposition filed counter affidavit, dated 30th Nov,22, with 4 paragraph Counter affidavit accompanied with written address.
Barr S A Abba argued that the suit of the Claimants is challenging their exclusion by the party from contesting in the APC Delegates Primaries which was to produce the delegates that would have produced the preferred candidate, thus, Nentawe Yilwatda is not an Officer of the party, the APC,thus, he is not in a position to cause the action because the matter was in the court before the applicant for joinder became the flag bearer of the APC.
He however stressed that the Applicant’s content in that suit is filed in bad faith, because it was filed after the emergence as the Governorship flag bearer of the party on the platform of APC.
Barr S A Abba therefore urged the court to throw the application of Dr Nentawe Yilwatda to Join in the suit into trash can where it rightly belongs.
In an interview with Barr Abba,Counsel to the Claimants, said what transpired in the court today is that both parties had argued their matter. On our part ,the Claimants, we are saying that Nentawe Yilwatda is not having any business in joining the suit. The reasons we canvassed in the court to buttress our argument is that we filed our case before the applicant for joinder was purportedly elected.
Barr Abbah continued that,"our hope is that he doesn’t join in the suit because his intension to join in the suit amount to being a busy-body and better described as an interloper, an intruder and doesn’t have business in the matter".
“He is not an official of APC,but just a candidate of the party and has no business as what happened in the suit.”
The Counsel to Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, Barr.A.G Yirvoms argued that the Claimants having withdrawn their motion, whose prayers are considered live less because it has been over taken by events.
Justice Arum I. Ashoms however adjourned the matter to Tuesday, 22nd November,2022 for ruling on the application on whether Nentawe would be allowed to join in the suit before the substantive matter treated.

LP Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi, Releases His Manifesto
Title: Prospects Of Transformative Governance In Nigeria
- We will offer a new brand of transformative and purposeful leadership. The overall goal of my administration shall be to streamline governance, make it more responsive, transformative, effective, less transactional, and therefore efficient and cost-effective.
- Thinking through 2023 and beyond, we must think seriously about a leadership that is imbued with competence, capacity, credibility and commitment. Accordingly, we will pursue intangible assets of good governance, rule of law, security of lives and properties; We will ensure that we have these assets in place and stress asset optimization. We will strike a strategic balance that allows us to promote and protect national interest, while meeting our ECOWAS obligations.
- We will rebuild Nigeria’s military power, promote economic growth, and enhance its technological prowess with a view to improving Nigeria’s diplomatic influence in sub-regional, regional and global affairs.
Restoring leadership will require that we reassert proactively, Nigeria’s leadership role in African affairs through constructive engagement, peacekeeping duties, and using existing sub-regional and regional forums as well as bilateral platforms for dialogue on current and emerging challenges. We will continue to enhance our sphere of influence via peacekeeping, and trade and investment initiatives.
- We shall ensure that in moving Nigeria forward, no state or community will be left behind. Pursuant to its statutory responsibility to protect, our Government will promote equity in power and resource sharing. The federating units will enjoy discernible autonomy. Resources will also be shared equitably. A higher derivation paid to oil or solid minerals producing states will not be tantamount to other states not receiving federal allocations that should keep them viable. We must transcend the rhetoric that bedevils a robust debate on some of these national questions.
- We will respect the principles of federal character, affirmative action and gender balance; but no longer at the expense of merit.
- We will tweak the security architecture, which will entail reform of the security sector and governance. We will Restructure, Re-equip and Reorient the Nigerian Police: This will include 3 level policing- Federal, state and community.
- We will build a Compact, Robust and Ready Mobile Police Force with Rapid Response Deployment capabilities; and Legislate the Establishment of State Police based on Community policing. We will raise the population to police officer ratio to a higher level.
- A properly manned, equipped and technologically driven security system with particular emphasis on re-focusing the military on external threats and border protection and police on internal security threats and law enforcement; swift prosecution of criminals, bandits and terrorists; enhanced coordination among security agencies; and upholding the rule of law.
- Integrate the activities of the National Intelligence and Security Agencies by establishing a Central Reporting Intelligence loop under the authority the Minister of National & Homeland Security.
- Establish a National Command and Control Coordination Center for the efficient management of actionable intelligence, resource allocation and force deployment. Membership should consist of representatives of all security agencies on a need to know basis.
- The oil theft is not petty pilfering. It is organized crime by a syndicate that involves a certain degree of sophisticated intelligence and logistical arrangement. We must admit that oil theft is happening because there is domestic and external collusion. The government and the people have the collective responsibility to protect national assets. On my watch those responsibilities will be accorded high priority.
- Foreign and National Security policy initiatives, might in the long term entail rebuilding, repositioning and sustaining ECOMOG, as the arrowhead of a West African Security partnership. This is to counter terrorist threats and international subversion of the sovereignty of the West African region of which Nigeria must re-establish her place as a regional power.
- We will explore ways of cushioning the forex demands by mainstreaming those components of Diaspora remittances that remain opaque and informal.
- We are challenged by high youth unemployment, which stands at 33.3%; 54% for the youth; and 20 million out-of-school-children. We must give this country back to the Nigerian youths. Half of our 200 million people are below the age of 30.
- Harnessing our national youth strength and demographic dividends intelligently, must start with curbing the high youth unemployment and creating funding access to enable our youths become entrepreneurs and drivers of our Small and Medium Scale enterprises (SMEs).
- We will have zero tolerance for corruption; block leakages and cut the cost of governance. Our total commitment to transparency and accountability in government business is the only credible way to achieve limited to zero corruption.
- We will enforce the legal framework protecting foreign investors and their indigenous partners. This is the only way to tamper monopoly and capital flight.
- As governor of Anambra State, my administration achieved close to a 60-40 gender balance in appointive and elective positions. The national target has hovered around 30-35%. We intend to progressively aim for between 35-40%, with aggressive gender mainstreaming action plan and rigid benchmarks.
- As part of our monetary policy, we will seek to re-establish the independence of the CBN; and commit to a credible and transparent plan to normalize the exchange rate and bring inflation to single digits. We will remove import and forex restrictions and insist on a single forex market. The current system penalizes exporters who bring in forex by forcing them to sell at a rate that they are unable to source for forex when they need to purchase forex. This multiple exchange rate regime encourages capital flight and deters investment, which has further worsened Nigeria’s forex situation.
- My top priorities on getting into office :
- - Production-centered growth for food security and export.
- - Securing and Uniting Nigeria.
- - Effective legal and institutional reforms (rule of law, corruption and government effectiveness).
- - Leapfrogging Nigeria from oil to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
- - Expanding physical infrastructure through market-driven reforms (unleashing growth-enabling entrepreneurship and market-creating innovations).
- - Human capital development that empowers competitiveness; and Robust foreign policy that restores Nigeria’s strategic relevance.
- We are spending more on recurrent expenses. And we are borrowing frivolously. I am not against loans per se; but we must stop borrowing for consumption. All loans must be invested in regenerative projects. We must operate within available resources and strive for a balanced national budget as cost saving measures. Ending the leakages including the subsidy regime and improving our tax regime should do the magic.
- Lack of political will and lack of synergy between the Executive and Legislative arms has resulted in a costly inertia in tackling our oversized government. The result is persisting turf fights and competition among several overlapping agencies, and the resultant wastages. Cost-cutting measures must start with rationalization and harmonization. Pruning the size of government will be imperative.
God bless you all.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
